camaro_69_327
na the master list was/has been edited this year in fact. (v2) after a post of mine letting the team know the only reason a lot of people were having problems with the sorting of the UNofficial patches was the fact that the CRC's for the UNofficial patches were needing an update in the master list. In this install i have only used Version 3 BOSS (now called LOOT) and the only thing needing fixing after running it is , it places BASHED PATCH about 15 mods up my load order( they are working on this). So i just grab the patch and place it just above the reproccer.esp and have been playing this way for months. IT may sort differently but i don't see any ill affects in game yet. Will know as this is my 3rd Run..lol LOOT is still a beta after all. They work hard on it . LOOT master list has 38,000 lines of text....and thats MINIMAL?? hahahhahah
apellis
No, 38,000 lines is not minimal. What is minimal is the fact that we do not need to constantly add mods to the list because they're unrecognized.LOOT puts them where they need to go. The only maintenance we need do is add notes on mods when users report an unresolved conflict or dirt.
IsharaMeradin
Perhaps I should try LOOT. I run usually a minimal amount of mods and some of them are my own (not released). In BOSS I'm pretty much guessing where they should go. With LOOT maybe it will figure out where they should be. So long as it doesn't do anything strange and put a plugin above one of its masters. :P
Drax8
I've been trying the LOOT program out, and I really like it. Here's some things of note to consider. It works very well, but you will have to get used to your load order looking completely different than it did with the original BOSS program. It's quite jarring at first, but that doesn't mean it's wrong. It's just a different way of doing things. What really sells it for me, and I may be in the minority on this, is that I have started making a lot of merged patches of mods using the TES5Edit merge script on Nexus: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/37981/?I have merged in some cases over 20 plugins into 1. So I am able to use many more mods than I previously could have. The problem with BOSS is that it won't know where to put these, and will be unrecognized. However LOOT looks at it and places it according to what it does, so it is placed correctly and I don't have to worry about it. My game is perfectly stable and that's all that matters to me. apellis
The issue with placing plugins lower than their master was corrected several betas ago.One thing you may find is that plugins with multiple masters may have it's masters loaded differently than the plugin expects (Orange icon in Wrye Bash).Or you may find a Dawnguard or Dragonborn patch loaded before it's supposed master. Almost always these patches are not explicitly mastered to the plugin their supposed to patch and while visually strange, it does not affect the game. Generally speaking, these unusual sorts are not a problem but there will be plugins where it may be.Should you find such a case, please report it in the BOSS/LOOT thread on the bethesda forums so that they can be sorted correctly. AYLeiDRuiN
A little late to the party but I wanted to say:I liked what a.ellis and ShenziSixaxis said on the first page. As for my experience with LOOT...I'm really digging it. It came with my update with Mod Organizer. BOSS's master list would sort my plugins but the updated patches it would not. Of course because the master list has not been updated. But that is where LOOT shines, right? It sees what the plugin changes and sorts it accordingly. I use it with MO so when I update MO then loot will be updated. I haven't had any problems so far, and it has sorted my plugins correctly. STEP 2.2.8 + other plugins =146 plugins total. GamerRaven81
I can't seem to get this or BOSS to work, they generate a new load order but DON'T reorganize My load order. I basically have to use LOOT or BOSS (In my case LOOT) to generate a load order than I have to edit the load order Myself through the launcher to get it in the order LOOT says it should be in, and THEN my game will work. I have made the game folder accessible as the troubleshooting section suggest and have run as Admin and the problem persist. I don't know how to get past this, but editing My mod list manually is becoming very tedious.EDIT: Never mind, I found the issue. It was My steam workaround for the SKSE loader. johnnyprozac
Tried using loot...and it's inconsistent... When it works for me it really works...gameplay is smoother...so something is going right. When it goes wrong, it really goes wrong and its usually in player houses. It ends up defaulting me back to the inn at Riverwood, removes any ECE- race edits AND reboots all my MCM dependent quests. Which is a pain. If this was consistent behavior I would point to something in another mod but the only variable I am changing is with LOOT. Finally getting it to work after doing the same amount of work it took for me to customize my BOSS load order. WHich is well not the point. Is LOOT really looking at functionality and other such tags? Because it just simply seems to me within some of the sections; just alphabetical order even though I know that nominally that really should be in the order after that...A little more transparency might convince me...but eh. Also some search options either in the sort analysis or details would be nice...or at least allow Cntrl + F... Will do a little more troubleshooting...might just be me...and no one else. IsharaMeradin
Make sure you are using the latest loot. I've been using it for a while now and my load order does not change from one run to another unless I add or remove mods. Doing that can affect where things go. Example:Mod A sorts in one spotMod B sorts in another spot Add Mod C which is dependent on both Mod A & Mod B BOSS would say put Mod C right after Mod BLOOT says move Mod B right before Mod C if Mod C needs to be in a spot before Mod B normally would be. At least that has been my experience.
Marth77
I've been using LOOT for about a month or so now, NO problems or incompatibilities shown, I had crashes when I was using BOSS, no crashes ever since I switched to LOOT.
