File Tracking Suggestion

I would like to suggest an adjustement to the way the file tracking feed displays results. I made an image illustrating a basic example of what I think would be an improvement, which basically combines the Feed and Favorite Files management screens into a full overview screen.

Instead of showing every single change to your tracked files in the feed, which often results in one mod with many changes flooding your list, I think it would be better to list your mods based on last changed date, but only showing one mod per line, with the default being set to show last file update (please see attachment).

This would give a much better view (IMHO) of the last updates to your favorite mods. While you could select other update types (Images, Readme, etc) I would suspect that the majority of time people want to know about file updates and would rarelly look to see if someone uploaded a random image or changed the attribute. If it would help with query response time the initial results could be limited to anything changed in the last 30 days with an option to expand it further.

If changing the existing tracking feed would cause too many features to change, perhaps this overview could replace the "Manage Your Tracked Files" page as it is now. Obviously there would need to be an option to sort it by mod name as well, if people wanted to just find a specific mod they knew was in the list. I don't know how in-depth the code for this would be, but I would love to see it :D

Cheers,

Vaul

Edit: This is probably obvious, but the screenshot was modified from the existing file tracking management page, so the mods were listed in name order even though my intent was to suggest sorting by last file update.

That would be something only Dark0ne could do, unfortunately he has been away the last two weeks or so, but should be returning shortly. He just returned this evening and is getting some needed rest....picked up a little illness while traveling.

Oh I never expected it to be implemented right away :) I just figured if someone else thought it was a good idea then they might speak up. I guess I shouldn't be surprised though since most of the files only have a very tiny percentage of people respond compared to those who view/download.

Im with vaul on this one. Since joining the fallout3nexus membership.. and saw the updates.. i hated when one mod author, would update a mod, then just flood excessive pages into my tracker view. I remember seeing all of the blogs about tryin to keep server load down, and with.. 1500+ pages (unfiltered) in my tracker.. im thinking a new system is needed for favs.

vaul's screenie looks good, and even posts more than i would just want.. which is just a last file updated date on the " favorite files " list. I also noticed the tracker filter bug, and found the work around long ago.. i thought this was a known issue too figuring it would be fixed after the server move.. but.. if it was unknown, glad its been mentioned now. I also visit [Blocked URL: Spamming mod authors with advertising links],for mods for other games, and like vaul intented..the favorites get listed by most updated date, not by alphabetical file name.. which makes it easier to see who updated and when. and its all on 1 to 2 pages for the most part depending on how many mods you track.

Hope we can see this in the future.
