I only got a single stock fan and it runs a little on the warm side. Thanks. Btw I have VGA monitors. whats the loss of using a VGA to DVI adapter? TheTerminator2004 Posted October 13, 2009 Share Posted October 13, 2009 It depends on the size of your monitor. With larger monitors, VGA supposedly gets a bit blurry, whereas DVI remains crisp. Illiad86 Posted October 13, 2009 Share Posted October 13, 2009 I've never noticed any blurry with my 21" CRT going through a DVI adapter. It was a professional grade monitor back in the day though. Haha, this thing is HUGE, has to weigh almost 100lbs. yes, those are nice. Please make sure you have a sufficient power supply and adequate case cooling for those. My friend has a 4870 and it's quite the cooker...but I think he improperly applied the thermal grease for some reason. I gotta look at it lol. I would suggest the 5000 series one as it's newer and uses less power. But, I'm not one to go and buy the newest things out. spammster Posted October 15, 2009 Share Posted October 15, 2009 I'm using a Phenom II X4 3Ghz (OC to 3.4 Ghz) on a Foxconn board I'm using a HD 4870 1 GB with 8 GB of RAM and I'm loving it, no matter what game i start, max. details everything and it results in very nice FPS and damn good loading times. and the 4870 is still well beyond good enough for gaming of latest games. I don't see the point in spending several 100 bucks, every other month for a new graphic card. slightly older cards work just as good for gaming. The 4870 was my first ATi card in about 5 years, since I got the 9800 Radeon Pro, and I'm very happy with it. The price is brilliant, which is really what ATi need to be working on to compete with the quite overpriced Nvidia cards at the moment. No point going for any other card right now, since DX11 will be coming in with Windows 7 in the next month and the DX11 cards will need a bit of time to be tweaked for good performance on the market.
