Dunno if you listened to his autobiographical audiobook (The Sick Bag Song) or his truly literary audiobook he narrates himself (The Death of Bunny Munro), or if you saw his film (20,000 Days on Earth), but I like his almost talking-style of singing (not unlike Tom Waits). I do think the Weeping Song is his most beautiful song, but I like him more for his humanity overall. I note, however, that he is one of the few artists who does not allow use of his music on YouTube by anyone but himself. This is surprisingly rare, though perfectly fine of course.
