sinewiz
Hello all. I've played Oblivion some 250 hours on my PS3 but have decided to start playing on the PC because of all the wonderful addons created for it. The major problem I'm having is that playing off the keyboard feels very cumbersome to me. I don't know if it's something I can get used to or whether some type of joystick makes more sense. How do most of you play? I sure could use some reccomendations as to what type of joystick and button setup would work well or if you prefer playing via the keyboard and what type of possible keyboard you could suggest to make the game more enjoyable. As is, after using a controller I'm finding the battles almost impossible. Please help!

Sharkull
Keyboard and Mouse, using first-person mode for all combat (just like an FPS). I rebind the keys to use my keypad buttons because I've always done that for FPS's (I'm used to it, and find wasd awkward for jumping / crouching)... 0= jump, . = crouch, Enter = use, + = sheath weapon, - = cast, 8456 = movement, 7 = forward auto, * = 1st/3rd person toggle, / = run/walk toggle...And I set up Backspace to open up my inventory. I only use third-person mode when I'm travelling / in a mood to enjoy the sights.
Themisive
I have a keyboard, but I use the bindings for that (with some exceptions Activate is [ALTt] not [space], Crouch/Sneak is [X] not [CTRL]Always Run is [G] not [CAPS LOCK]). If you look at the bindings, you'll see why I changed those keys, all the others though are just the same. Added to which I use a game pad, it stops the keyboard doesn't wear out too quickly. As far as move forward, attack block and cast are concerned, they all run from my mouse. You could use a joystick, but it wouldn't be easy to control movements, that;s why i use a mouse instead. Marthos
Aha ! Give it time, I swapped from Xbox 360 to PC about a month ago, for the first week I wanted to neck the mouse and headbutt the keyboard. A month down the line it seems just as normal to pick up & use the mouse & keyboard as it did to use the 360 controller. I've sticky back velcro'd my keyboard to a piece of wood that has room at the end for the mouse so I can put them on my knee and get my feet up on the desk and slob it for hours in my chair (which is great till I fall asleep and go over backwards getting a facefull of keyboard when I hit the deck. Stick with it, you do get used to it.
jaysus
keyboard and mouse ftw!ist simply the most accurate and healthy combination out there, just try a mixed server on a fps console game where you have keyboard mouse dudes vs joypad fanatics... the joypad dudes always loose miles behind... thus if you have the choice go mouse and keyboard. joypad is great for racing, beat em up and jum'n'run tho...for flying nothing beats a real joystick with thrusters...for racing a wheel with pedals obviously is the non plus ultra... Unavi
one more for the keyboad and mouse---only this time the mouse is on reverse...the best the only thing i changed is the use button. I didnt' like it on the space bar so i put it on E like most of valve's games i'm used to play :) oh...and due to tehnical difficulties i had to change the sneak button. The original stopped to work for some strange reason...
