Mookeylama
i had a mod once that made this happen, but others complained of it too, so i knew what was causing it. the last couple mods i've gotten are popular and no one has complained about that mod making load times go up. sooo, is this most likely a mod (or my installation of said), or could my game just be getting to large lol. i have about 155 mods (145 active). the total Fallout folder is 14 gig. my saves are around 14,000 kb. if any of that means anything heh
spammster
well 14 GB of used HDD space means that you gotta load massive into RAM, so unless you use 8 (or preferably 16 GB) of RAM the more plugins you use, the slower the game will get. unload some of the plugins you no longer use or you don't really need, that should speed it up again
Mookeylama
http://reviews.cnet.com/desktops/dell-stud...7-33556483.html that's my PC ^ and the only plugins i'm not actively using are a few from MMM. like no corpse flies, no floaters, ect. can i safely remove those w/o messing w/ rest of MMM? even so, not sure they're large enough to really make a difference. deleting some of the 100+ saves (each ranging from 7000kb to 13000kb seemed to help some. spammster
make a backup of the last savegame you created, remove a few plugins you no longer need and start the savegame, you will get a warning saying that content is no longer available, if you proceed anyway the game should load without the plugins. what you have to keep in mind: removing plugins means you loose custom weapons/items etc. since they are no longer present and quests in these plugins get reset (at least can be, some may survive if completed). but your system looks good, you might wanna consider buying some more RAM though, another 4 GB (2*2 GB) shouldn't cost you more than 50$ and is the most reasonably priced performance boosting upgrade you can do. chips good, graphic card is well within the good range for the game, if you really want an additional speedup kick vista and use XP (64bit) that has direct influence on the RAM usage (XP needs much less for the same content). I assume you use HiRes Textures ? (disabling them should give you the most severe fps boost) anyways, what is the framerate ? one thing i wondered about the system is the mentioned 350 Watt, now thats low. chip and graphic already use around 200, add the drive, HDD and ethernet and you should be around 250. so if you ever consider upgrading your graphic card, you need a new one with at least 500 Watt (just saying, so you don't wonder if you upgrade your graphics in the future and the system either feels slow or crashes on boot)
Mookeylama
thank you for detailed info. yeah thought about getting more RAM but there's very little room to upgrade in this case. i use no Hires except i think one armor may be.framerate w/ Fraps was about 60+ but i started using a Fallout Stutter Remover which i think caps it at 40. it helped alot w/ stutter and especially VATS lag. and yep, this power supply is tiny lol
Mookeylama
actually it was a 2kb esp that was making it load so slow lol. got rid of that and it's fast again
Dhegonus
well if you use about 150 mods.. of course your game is going to take longer to load..150 mods = overkill. You don't need ALL of them surely.
Cipscis
I'm curious, what was the plugin that was slowing your load times down? Cipscis
Mookeylama
it was the "Clothing-merged" esp from this mod... http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=8383 i'm guessing it was the way i was using it. i already had those outfits from another mod (Clover Perfected) so i was just using that esp and not the textures/meshes. it worked tho, just loaded slowly
