Switch
Iredior Conspiracies now has a brand new website, courtesy of me (with Theta advising, of course!). The design has been completely revamped, and a bunch of new content has been added, including eight new screenshots, two new books, new FAQ info and more. Also Dark0ne has kindly given us free hosting, so we lost the vastly long URL. :P Anyway, come visit and let me know what you think! Any feedback is welcome. And yeah I know the background image on the front page doesn't quite fit beyond 1024x768. I couldn't stretch it enough without it looking silly. Marxist ßastard
Get rid of the background image on the index page. It isn't scaled properly (as you said), doesn't match the rest of the site, and interferes with the text.

Gabbemaster
Nice work! It looks good. *Warning! Whine-Line ahead!* :excl: But you have spelled my nickname wrong, it shall be Gabbe_master, not Gabbe-master!
Switch
Ok ok I've changed the design. :P Got rid of the index background and changed it into a couple of images. Better? Hehe yeah, sorry about that Gabbe, I can't do underscores in Magic Cards font... they're not included for some reason ^^; so I had to make do with a dash. But glad you like the site. Dark0ne
To save you from the onslaught that MB would give you, it's not any better! To begin with the images you've added overlap some of the text on the site. Secondly, the background doesn't go with the text colour, they're pretty close colours. You're looking for contrasting colours.
Switch
Gah. That's what I get for using span tags. Maybe I'll use a table or something instead. Got rid of the images for now (they looked fine when I tested them... oh well). ^^; And uh what do you mean? Gray and yellow - I'd say those are pretty contrasting colours... Marxist ßastard
If you're going to be using that new background image tiled throughout the entire site, first things first make it so that it can be tiled -- as it stands, there's a big black vertical bar going through the screen each time the image ends, disrupting the text. Secondly, tile it on the main page, too -- as it stands, it's just that single image on the index, as opposed to the rest of the site, where it's already tiled. And about the font you're using, most of the non-specialized X font servers support, at minimum, the following formats:PCFBDFPostscript Type 1Postscript CIDSpeedo...Can you use a font that is available in at least one of those formats? Switch
Increased the background image size to account for larger resolutions. I didn't design this site with 1600x1200 in mind. :P It has to have that vertical line as Photoshop won't let me have that texture without the bevel... Non-specialised X font servers? Care to explain what you're on about? ;)
Marxist ßastard
If Photoshop is rendering the image improperly, then don't render it using Photoshop. Most of us UNIX guys use a font server to provide fonts that the X display uses. The font you require (require, instead of suggest, because some portions of your site's text are displayed as images, and wouldn't match with any text not rendered in this font -- if you were to fix that, this wouldn't be a problem) isn't available in a format that most "normal" font servers can use -- which is silly, because, as you can see, a good number of formats are supported.
