Yosup
Hello, Nexus Forums!I'm a new member here, and I'm having a certain problem with loading Fallout 3. So, I click the launcher icon, and when the launcher loads, I have it normal. Whenever I hit Play, I get a pop up that tells me that Fallout 3 cannot run without the file xlive.dll . I've searched through all the files many times, with no luck.So I'm wondering if it is legal here to share certain files. If anyone is willing to send me a copy of this file so I can play my game, it would be wonderful. Thanks in advance,Yosup.
csb
Get Timeslip's Fallout Mod Manager (FOMM) and use its function to disable xlive.dll. The second button from the bottom, "Install tweaker," is what you want, check the box that disables xlive.dll.
mort82
I have the same issue, on my old PC fallout 3 works fine, on my new machine, with a fresh install, I'm getting the xlive.dll issue. No idea what's going on, I've tried reinstalling Fallout3, and just the xlive redistributable that's on the fallout3 dvd but to no avail. I'm going to try the FOMM way now. *Edit* The FOMM way doesn't work for me, Fallout3 crashes before the logos are even played. This is really really f---ing annoying. This game has worked fine since I got it last christmas and it's worked fine on my old machine, now I'm on a new one and it's screwed up.
phoneyLogic
Heya, try to install the latest GfWL update from >here<.Do you use any mods?
mort82
I fixed it (I think). You have to copy the .dll from your system32 file into the game directory, seemed to work for me. Installing the new version of GFWL meant I was getting the .dll error anymore, instead it was CTDing on load instead lol, copying over the .dll fixed that. Wasn't using any mods what so ever, it's a brand new fresh installation of fallout3 without the patches (because the patches wouldn't install because of the .dll bug too). phoneyLogic
AFAIK it is only the latest Patch 1.7 which needs an GfWL update. Previous patches worked with older GfWL Versions which were included with the game DVD. You seems to have had a wrong / corrupted XLive installation.Sometimes a wrong Version or an uninstall of GfWL might cause it. Generally a reinstall with the latest Versions should fix these issues. However, glad you fixed it
