Some Things for Modders to Remember

It's okay to think well of yourself, be proud of your craft and know that you're possibly very, very good at it but if your head gets too big it will explode. (Very messy. Cleaning off the keyboard is a b*tch.)

Pride goeth before a fall.

and

The bigger they are the harder they fall. (Hospital stays are expensive--for either one.)

If a tree falls in the forest does it make a sound? (Or, if there's no players because modders have turned them all off with single-minded high-handedness then what's the point of modders.)

A word to the wise is sufficient. (Unfortunately a word to the stupid never is.)

If you're too full of yourself you won't be able to see your belt.

Last, but not least, I already have a Godfather--I don't need a Godmodder.

And if you don't see the points or the jokes in these comments then you really are headed for a fall in the real world...

I think I know exactly what you are talking about. That was a really ugly disastrous thread. I am glad it was closed. I hope the villagers with torches and pitchforks don't come after you next.

I for one believe in free speech. I people should be gentlemanly and ladylike. People who say rude things on the Internet while hiding behind their anonymous identities are reprehensible. They should not use insults on the Internet that they would not dare say to someone's face in the real world. Our mission here is to have fun. We want to play good mods, and we want to make good mods and have people make good mods for us. There are many opinions on what a "good" mod is. It is best to listen and learn from someone who has something to say, rather than attack them. If you disagree with them, post logical arguments with evidence. In this sense "argument" means discussion and debate with an esteemed colleague rather than "fight" where you call names, treat people like they are worthless, and try to show that you are bigger and badder then all the rest. Save that for your roleplaying.

Here we are interested in facts and techniques. We want to learn how to make better mods so the whole gaming community can have a better gaming experience. People do not need to take it so personally if someone else holds a different viewpoint. We just want to play and mod Oblivion and have fun.

So now I have exposed myself to hostile fire. But know this: If you flame me in this thread rather than discussing things with me, I will have won my argument and you will have lost.

This one is closed too now. Don't make any more topics in this vein, or it will be your last. It is not your place to tell modders what to do, just as it is not theirs to tell you how to play. It stops now.

AS.
