ThetaOrionis01
It's lagging, but what to do? :P Everytime I play for half an hour or so, or travel between cities, the game will slow down to a crawl. So I have to quit and restart the game, and that takes very long too. I had similar problems when I first played Ultima IX with only 64MB of RAM. I found that using the Cacheman memory manager really helped improve performance until I finally got round to upgrading.
warthog2k
If you have a PCI-Express board you really should be looking at the 7600GS / 7600GT - great power at low prices. (from about $140 / £85) I guess you're stuck with AGP though. If you have the money the 7800GS would be well worth the investment.
roughboy
Man, it seems my AGP slotted computer is just too old. Nothing on Newegg seems to be AGP. It's all PCI-E. http://www.crucial.com/store/partspecs.Asp...CTVX800PRO256MB am i wrong, or is that not a good, supported, AGP video card solution to this oblivion problem? i was considering this one my own agp'ed self, so any info from those who'd know would be appreciated. Vicrry
I know it's not on the supported list, but I have a GeForce 4 Ti4200. This old workhorse is still chugging along just fine, and I was thinking that Oblivion might be a good test for it. There a reason that it just wouldn't work other than the lack of FPS? It does have 128mb onboard.
Switch
Well, if the game isn't designed to work with that card, then all sorts of things could go wrong. It'll most likely just crash on start-up. You can try it if you like, but it would be best to go with a supported card (but NOT an FX5200 card if you can avoid it, I can tell you from experience that they run slower than a Ti4200 ^^; ). Vicrry
Well, I think Oblivion is going to be the straw that breaks the upgrade camel's back. Any comments on a Radeon X700?
