FrankFH
Interesting NPCs and Inconsequential NPCs are an absolute must. And try INIGO, too. Consider trying Duke Patrick's Archery And Heavy / Light Weapons Combat, instead of SkyRe. Completely changes the way you play the game, in a fun, challenging, and realistic way. To summarize the dozens of features that this mod offers, duels against some enemies can last for up to 10 minutes in some cases. In short, this totally removes the "hit LMB until he dies". This mod is fundamentally different from vanilla Skyrim, in my opinion even more than SkyRe and Requiem together.

Are there any mods that increase the role of Thalmor in the game? I know about MadFrenchie's series Fight Against the Thalmor, but it is incompatible with Helgen Reborn....so I'm wondering if there is other stuff like it. Always enjoyed killing those guys.... EDIT: I understand that the Cutting Room Floor mod adds stuff related to the Thalmor Embassy. Would love more mods that do something similar! notmyhome
http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/11750/?They say that Helgen Reborn and Fight against the Thalmor are complementary... "BLADES VS THALMOR" by klcjr on Steam / ItsMeToo on NexusNew voiced quests, based on MadFrenchie's 4 mods "Fight against the Thalmor", with 4 unique Blades relics to find, hidden in MadFrenchie's 4 Thalmor mods. New unique items meshes, design and textures by 0Prime0 and klcjr/ItsMeToo(nexus). “Helgen Reborn” by Mike Hancho (aka Balok on Nexus)An EPIC DLC that has been integrated into the Blade vs Thalmor storyline with an additional quest to establish a Blade Outpost in Helgen. I've never tried that myself, but if they say it's compatible...
deRusett
Those are good words on SkyRe. I actually used that mod during my second playthrough. And you're absolutely right - I would not play Skyrim again with it! I've been looking at Organized Bandits in Skyrim. That sounds like it would add another layer of depth and immersion to the game. That mod, combined with Immersive Patrols and Skyrim Immersive Creatures - to say nothing of texture packs and ENB - could be a bit much for my system; a lot going on. But I kinda want to try it all together anyway. Interesting to read the mod author of Immersive Patrols state that using it in conjunction with Open Cities can lead to slaughter in the streets of major cities....that sounds like it could kill my game (so many dead, important NPCs).....but my interest is piqued! Anyone have experience mashing those mods together in a playthrough? I can't imagine a play through without SIC, and HLE-SIC, I've been looking at organized bandits and think I might go with it on my next play through if I don't finally try SkyRE
Hyacathusarullistad
Actually you can use the Fight Against the Thalmor series. The quests aren't connected, they're separate Thalmor operations in Skyrim that don't depend on each other in the slightest. Just don't install the Cyrodiil Frontier (part two, I think?), which is the one that conflicts with Helgen Reborn. Which is an awesome mod, despite some sort of "meh" voice work (audio quality, not acting quality) very early on and a rather entertaining Arnold impression later. Breems
What type of character will you be playing? My suggestions will depend on that.
Bizzquik
What type of character will you be playing? My suggestions will depend on that. An archer, I think. A 'thief' style character that does not steal. (Not melee. Not destruction/restoration magic.)Thanks for the reply. :)
Breems
I think you would benefit most from SkyRe's additions to the archery perk tree, then. If you go with any thieving skills, I'd consider Stealth Skills Rebalanced, although I'm not sure of its compatibility with SkyRe.

DanielDuncan
I work under the assumption that EVERY mod is "start a new game" with an exception to singular armor sets, clothing and weapon mods. I am not talking about sets though anything that alters leveled lists is "start a new game" status again. Want a surefire way to mess up a game? Install a bunch of mods mid game, that will do it. Also this will make you start a new game anyway as your old one will be broke.
