gromulos
Ok, I am getting ready to start my first ever playthrough on MorrowWind and I definitely need help because I know aboslutely nothing about what to expect in the game, below is a list of mods but I am missing a lot I know. http://snag.gy/5jzGr.jpg What I need is a few companions / followers, 3-4 good ones please lol, A house, a weapon compilation and/or an armor compilation, and maybe a few ( 2-3 ) game changing mods like effects ( like frostfall for skyrim ), and lastly a monster mod. I think once I have all that I will be all set for my first playthrough of MW :D PS: Please definitely let me know if I am missing anything critical like fixes or patches, thanks. Cluck1Norris
I suggest you download Grumpy's and Emma's Wolf Companion mod you can pick between 3 colored wolves as your companion which you can team up with early in the game Link:http://www.fliggerty.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=90&t=4137http://lovkullen.net/Emma/pics/Couleurs_du_loup%20kopiera.gifAswell as better NPC I suggest you check the following modLess Generic Non -Playable Characters Mod:http://lgnpc.org/Description:It adds a a very vast implementation of back story to each non-playable character you meet. Here's another mod called Better Heads mod it really changes the way you look at a person.Link:http://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/42226/?tab=4&&navtag=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nexusmods.com%2Fmorrowind%2Fajax%2Fcomments%2F%3Fmod_id%3D42226%26page%3D1%26sort%3DDESC%26pid%3D0%26thread_id%3D773781&pUp=1Another Mod I suggest it's called Darknut's creature texture,Its really makes the creatures of morrowind look betterLink:http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=5980I'll add more as I remember the mods that are good for starters Edited May 27, 2014 by Cluck1Norris

hollaajith
Always start morrowind light. Morrowind is a good game even without mods. First try it without mods, and then later add mods for the things you want or don't like. I would suggest play vanilla, without mods. Probably get MCP and MPP. MCP fixes some engine bugs and MPP fixes many smaller bugs of quests and other stuff. For MPP, first install this version of MPP, make sure you get the edited version and then install this(link under spoiler) over that. They say its beta, but I've been using it witout issues. If you like eye candy, you might try Better Bodies, Westly's Heads and MGEXE. PS: If you want to try mods, get Mlox first. It tells about mod conflicts, redundant files etc.Just make sure you get the latest mlox_data file. Edited May 28, 2014 by hollaajith
Thelovelybones
Yeah, As Hollaajith said, play vanilla Morrowind first. Be careful of any major mods that alter major quests, as it can go outside of lore (which I hate, but this is only a suggestion.). If you add major mods before your first play through, you wont be able to differentiate the vanilla from the mods, which can be annoying, yet it is only another suggestion. Once again more suggestions, but I would recommend the http://www.tamriel-rebuilt.org/ mod, which makes the rest of Morrowind. The game itself takes place in the district of Vvardenfell, and TR adds the rest of Morrowind. Anyway, You've probably already statrted and I may have accidently thread necroed but oh well. Have Fun! oOtailspinOo
Oh god NOOO! Don't play vanilla Morrowind. Why? Listen if you have a good graphic card go here and grab MGSO 3.0 right away and the updates and fixes. Vanilla Morrowind is awful. I got the same advice and after a week I stopped playing it and went on to Fallout 3. This past year I was out of town very often and so I tried Morrowind again and spent most of my time installing mods to make the game playable. MGSO will update everything in the game for you. Morrowind is an old game and even adding mods is a process. MGSO adds hundreds of mods and texture/meshes replacers. I will take an hour to set up but it will save you hundreds of hours if you were to search and install them yourself. I installed MGSO 3.0 recently and my game looks amazing. The game looks and plays better. MUCH much better XDD\ Think about it; why would you drive a 1994 volkswagon when you can drive a 2014 Pasat for the same price  Must have follower is (I have played them all and Emma's are real good but...) Kateri's follower mod is the best by far. You have to start a new game to use him but if you just started your game you will be ok.Julan, Ashlander Companion 2.02 I also like Emma's Thief Companion Constance ver. 1.2 because you will laugh a lot. A LOT XDD The rest of her companion mods are great but they come with large quests and you may want to get stronger and finish the main quest of morrowind before trying them but my fave of her companion mods is herThe White Wolf Of The Lokken Mountain ver 2.1 You can also use jacs Jasmine, a Morrowind companion over at wolflore. She comes with a handy little home near the start of the game where you can drop stuff on the floor in safety and move them later on when you get your own home. Her quest is simple enough that it doesn't interfere with the game. Anyhoos... I am thinking about playing the game without "Better Bodies and Heads" and I am already feeling bad for you :D PLEASE update to MGSO 3.0 right away. If you post on the link they will help you set it up but it is very straight forward and the program is all scripted so you just choose what you want installed (if you have a good video card then install everything at max settings and choose all the extra mods in the MCP (morrowind code patch) part when that come up. Don't worry, any choices you make can be reversed or changed later. I have now played morrowind on 3 different computers with 3 different set ups. MGSO wwas the easiest installation with the greatest results. Check out my recent pics on the picture share and come upload some of your own regardless of what set up you choose  Cheers Edited July 8, 2014 by oOtailspinOo
gromulos
Thank you one and all for your suggestions, the truth is I have not even touched MW yet as I was waiting for more suggestions. oOtailspinOo I will be playing my first time in vanilla mode as I do with every single game I have ever owned. THEN, i will be adding some or most of all these suggestions. Once again, tyvm to everyone who contributed :)
