Switch
Just... how do you do it? I've tried freeing the Argonian prisoner and nabbing the book from the altar (hence bringing the whole Mythic Dawn down on my head) and legging it for the exit... but there's a rock in my way when I follow the map markers (going through the Living Quarters, etc). The rock won't budge, and I've searched the cave area near it, there doesn't appear to be any sort of switch or anything to get rid of it. I've tried other routes, and there's one that requires a key. That's the only other potential exit I've found. I've tried this like 3-4 times now and failed to escape every time. I just wondered if someone could tell me how they did it? Preferrably before I go insane? Thanks. :P
Dark0ne
LoL...I did it two ways. The first way was to give the guy all my equipment, nab the book and do a runner never looking back. When you go up the stairs in the book room you should turn right, rather than left (the way you came in is barred) and a new exit will have opened up. I never recovered my equipment and I found that chests I looked in on the way often had some pretty powerful stuff, so I thought this was an undesirable outcome. My second method involved a lot of saving and timing. Kill everyone from the offset with good stealth. You can do it in such a way that you'll only ever be taking on one or two enemies at a time; just make sure you pick your timing right and don't let them run off for help. Clear the initial living areas and loot it dry then enter the book area in stealth, move to the right-hand cliff area overlooking everyone and let him do his speech. Once he teleports away wait for all the listeners to leave and return to the living quarters. There should only be 2 or 3 people left in the room now. Jump down, free the prisoner and hope he takes some attention away long enough for you to kill the 3 enemies. Another 3 or 4 enemies will come in from the living quarters but barely armed -- you should be able to handle them if you can avoid their magic. Now make your way through the tunnel network and you'll come across your rock you were talking about that "needs a key". You'll notice the cursor icon is different -- it actually requires you to press the switch on the wall thats at the top of the corridor leading down to the door. Press that, wait a few seconds and the door will open. Hope that helps. Can't be bothered to proof read since it is late...so good luck!
DonEuclid
There's another little method to this that may surprise you. The dude who follows you around after the ritual (his name escapes me) still has your equipment, but now he apparently trusts you. He is nihilistic enough to let you steal your stuff back right under his nose! Just hit the sneak button and pickpocket your weapons and armor back. He'll keep saying "Bah, I don't need it. Go ahead and take it!" until he finally gets a bit miffed and yells about a pickpocket (making it impossible to steal from him any more). Equip your best gear and gut the *censored* first, then the two others in the room. After that it's just another dungeon grind (or invisibility and run fest) back to the surface. The last post already covered the specifics.
loveme4whoiam
I just got on to this quest, and played for about 20 minutes trying to play it through as the initiate to the DB, but without success. Without all your equipment and with only that puny knife there's no way to take them all on. I went through it in much the same way as Dark0ne's second walkthrough, although I didn't realise they all wandered off after the ceremony. Did anyone else think that those MD members were a bit of a push-over? Not in a group of course, their damned shock spells knock you sideways while your taking on the armoured versions of them. But singularly the armoured guards (which looks really really good) are not that good, I took on two at once and still managed to come out on top. And the acolytes were just weak, although that fits with their class so that's okay. Has anyone played through this quest without killing any of the Mythic Dawn? Can it be done? Switch
Thanks for the advice. Turns out I simply missed the switch last night (well, I was tired). :P Surely enough it removed the rock and I was able to escape. Yes, not killing the Mythic Dawn can be done. I just followed the map markers to the room with the rock and switch, where two Mythic Dawn members cornered me. I decided to kill them so I could find the switch in peace, but potentially I could've just hit the switch and ran out. Anyways, since my question has been answered, locking this... thanks again. ^^
