Barlas
My only gripe about DA:O is the loadscreens. They take as short as 3 minutes to 8 minutes. This is annoying, I should not have to wait that long to get from One part of the map to another. Is there any way to reduce the load times? I have everything on high. (Not very high)You right, it's not normal. Yet that delay has been reported by many people over the forums, aways after some time playing. It's not too different than what occurs with fallout 3 sometimes under the same circumstances and the reason may be the same: memory leak. I do not know about a solution, the workaround is you saving your game, quiting it altogether and reload. That allows the OS to chase down and delete the wasted (and with no owner) memory spaces. Some rigs seems to be more vulnerable than others and get it sooner. Other than that: Since you did not post your specs I hope you have more than 1GB RAM in your system, specially if using Vista or Seven. High textures resolution and/or screen resolutions over a less than 512MB VRAM videocard is claiming for problems too. The card power itself should not influence the load area time, only the performance. But the lack of memory would translate into high hard disc usage. If you have nvidia card, try reducing the Maximum pre-rendered frames to 2 (default 3), this should spare some memory to actual game usage but can introduce some stuttering and perceptible loading times when changing viewpoints. TGBlank
That's pretty much it, quit & reload seems to be the salomonic solution. However, the numbers you're seeing are quite abnormal, most people would play a few hours and quit & reload when load times pass the minute mark.I did noticed that when i installed JB textures, my load times skyrocketed horribly, i then defragmented the drive and things went smooth once again. Apparently, the drive was too fragmented when i got JBT and the game was wasting copious amounts of time chasing all the little fragments of the textures all over the thing. DarkeWolf
yeah, thats how much ram I have in mine too. Full time student, so cash is pretty tight for me right now, can't really afford to blow it on more ram. Mine sometimes takes around 3 minutes. at which point, I just go out for a smoke. a lot of it also depends on the area that it has to load. larger areas with more construction, mobiles, and files associated with that particular area are going to take longer to load. keep in mind that your system is also caching all the scripts that the npc's have associated with them, and whatnot. defragmenting the harddrive(s) that the game files, and the my documents folders are on, can help some. If you have a large hdd that will take a considerable amount of time tho. I recommend a free prog called Defraggler. It has an option for "quick defrag" which, while not a full-blown defrag, DOES help a lot. AND it's a LOT faster than the MS defrag. shut down as many running processes as you can. Antivirus, especially. THose take up a LOT of processing cycles, since most AV prog are constantly running in the background. However, if you do shut down your AV, I strongly recommend disconnecting from the internet while the AV is shut off. Even if you have a firewall. (Which I'd also recommend shutting off, since those hog a lot of cpu usage too). if possible, install the game on a seperate harddrive (if you have more than one in the machine) from your operating system. tho if it's an external drive, don't, you'll be slowing yourself down more. maybe run at a lower resolution/smaller game window when changing areas. MonsterHunterMaster
mine is pretty fast..about 1 min minimum loading time :glare: ...doesnt it load faster if you set down graphics a bit? cuz then it does not have to load so much (textures and stuff)..
TGBlank
With mine it barely tops the 10~20 secs on locals, and 20~50 on map travels. When it starts hitting near 50 (normally after 4-6 hours of gaming) i quit and reload and everything is smooth again.Running with a core 2 duo 3.0 ghz, 2 gigs of DDR2-1066 corsairs, and a 8800 gtx. I guess the card and the faster ram is helping me there.
