mileafly
How do I remove the Parallax effect on textures from my game? I have tried to just overwrite the textures, but it does just that.. replaces the textures, but the parallax effect is still there. Is there some folder I can just remove to get rid of the effect? Novem99
Do you mean the very few parallax textures that come with the vanilla game or the mods that support parallax?
mileafly
There are parallax textures in the vanilla game? I have added some mods that have parallax textures, but even after I overwrite them with other mods the parallax effect still seems to be there. I have noticed it on rocks and rockwalls so far. Novem99
Yes, there are some parallax textures in the vanilla game but only a few and the parallax effect is not as strong as in the well known mods. The problem is:The mods using the parallax effect not only have new textures (with a special texture especially for the parallax) they also have edited meshes so that the parallax effects work properly. But the mods without parallax usually don't have edited meshes and they don't have this special parallax texture. Normally they only contain new textures. If you install (without uninstalling!) now a new textures mod that contains no parallax effect you will have the new textures but you will still have the edited meshes and the special parallax textures activated since there is no equivalent in the new "textures only" mod so they cannot be overwritten. So you will have a mix with parallax effect. To properly remove the parallax effect you have toa) uninstall the parallax mod before installing a new mod orb) you take the specific meshes out of the ...skyrim\data\meshes... folder. mileafly
Do you know which meshes these are? Are there a list of the "original" meshes? I assume mods like the Static Mesh Improvement mod does not affect parallax rocks and stuff so I dont want to remove those by mistake..
Nyquist
Uhm, you do use a mod manager, if so which one? In that case just uninstall them. If you installed them manually then just unzip the file and look at filenames and delte them from you skyrim data folder. If however you extracted the bsa and installed these textures you are out of luck.

As said, if you installed them manually and not with NMM then take a look at the original archive of the mod and compare it with...Skyrim\Data\meshes directory. If you find in both places the same meshes you must delete them.
Nyquist
Actually I think that the other issue is that some packs have over 500 textures not sure how viable it is. But I don't see how it is problematic. Ah something that might be usefull. In vanilla Skyrim one does not have a textures folder since all the textures are in bsa. However all the mods that use any textures put them in that folder weapons etc.
mileafly
I just the Mod Combiner to install all the textures to they are all in one "file" in NMM, so if uninstall it, everything goes..
Nyquist
Hmm what you could do is just look at the mod that contains the parallax textures and just don't make it available to to the combiner. The issue is that you by yourself will be unable to find all the parallax textures manually.
