itisspencer
There has been a rash of Placeholder "Files" in the Nexus. They have little to no description, and no file to download. This places a burden on the server and wastes time by filling the New files locations with empty placeholders while real mods get pushed off the five page list. Accepted: This action serves no purpose than to anger members looking for new mods. This action wastes server space, increasing load time for the pages and decreasing member happiness This action creates an unneeded complaint list. Offered: Placing a marker in file build to only allow a file to be listed if there is an actual download-able file. Require a description of at least 100 words in length If these items are not met the file will not be created warning to the uploader/modder Consideration: Members will need to vote for this in order to assume the Topic is acceptable. Moderators will then be able to determine the need for these updates to the Nexus Be Heard: All members should voice their opinion Please Reply. :thanks:

Craigsters
Most popular game sites have these place holder problems, when I used to play GTA SA and the Sims 2 they'd have place holders, on there sites too, mentioning of there up coming mods, but no files or time release indicated when there place holder is started, sometimes people don't know any better and start place holder uploads in believing it well inspire the real mod to get started a request sort of hidden agenda thing!.. evilneko
So, if I decided to upload my CUTE Shady Hat mod, which makes the Shady Hat use a model adapted for the CUTE body replacer, you'd have me fill up the description with nonsense to pad it out to a full hundred words? :ermm:
Tony the Wookie
Placeholders are stupid but I don't really want to bother doing anything about it...
xporc
I'll be honnest and admit that I hate placeholders. I mean ... Most of the time, there's a huge descriptions filled with awesomeness, and then there's just a little sentence saying "Ok, now I dont know anything about the GECK, so please help me doing that !". And three months later, there's still nothing ...
Rabbit1251
I give this thread my endorsement. I'm all for it although I don't see anything coming of it. Thank you for bringing this up, Itisspencer. You've voiced my views exactly. Rabbit
ITOS
Offered: Placing a marker in file build to only allow a file to be listed if there is an actual download-able file. Require a description of at least 100 words in length If these items are not met the file will not be created warning to the uploader/modderWhile it would be nice to get rid of placeholders, your suggestion is somewhat flawed. There would be the risk of people uploading dummy files with no content and, as mentioned, some mods don't need long descriptions. Unfortunately, I don't believe there is an effective way to automatically sort out all placeholders. A system of reporting and banning people who post them might just be as good as it can get. Once you added required mods and your signature you may be well over 100 words That is 50 words, 5 spaces used per word is the ratio *******Above this line is over 100 words not very hard to do I would think 103 words in fact
buddah
Also a lot of spam posts just to promote stupid threads that have no basis in reality. Got a pet peeve use the unofficial rant thread. http://thenexusforums.com/index.php?showtopic=129063 No matter how you slice it SPAM is still SPAM. There is a report button on every file page, use it. But we wait at least 24 hours from the time the file page is created before we delete it. Budddah This is now closed.
