I just got done successfully installing FCOM and some other mods and it was frikin hard. Half the time I couldn't figure out what the heck I was doing. What were you're feeling the first time you tried installing FCOM or after you finished.

I was following a guide when I first installed it and things worked just great. After I downloaded all the required mods and the optional ones I wanted to have, I made a special folder where I put all of them so next time I installed FCOM it took me less time to do it.

After I was done with the installation I was happy or course and went ingame to test it out a little. :D

I ticked 'wasn't that bad'. It wasn't that good... But it wasn't that bad. First time I installed all of the mods included in FCOM it simply wouldn't load. I had to completely remove oblivion and all mods and programdata files, to reinstall and it worked fine. I'd say some of the mods, such as combat fumbling, weren't really worth my effort to install, so I soon removed it, tweaked it to my own taste and now it runs smooooooth. I only have problems with loading new cells, which didn't happen before FCOM, but I suspect that may be graphics card related.

When I installed FCOM the first time, I spent almost 2 weeks reading about it, downloading, and reading everything else about Oblivion and modding before I started installing everything. From the moment I first inserted the Oblivion disk (fresh install) till the moment I could start playing the game (bout 190 items checked in wyrebash) took 13 hours!

So ya, its not for the light of heart, but man it was worth it!

On a side note, I am getting ready to do it again, with a lot more mods, and less time reading. I suspect I will be up and running in a couple days! lol

This.

I had quite a bit of trouble...mostly getting Wrye Bash to work. Due to its website being in "nonexistant mode", every time someone tried to help, they just pointed me to the website...which has been down for nearly half a year, so far as I can tell.

So yes, it is an extremely difficult and painful process... but still totally worth it.

Wrye has a wiki that I used. Not sure about their site.

I just installed FCOM for the second time (last time being 2 years ago), and it took me about 5 hours from disk insert til I was ready to install the rest of the mods that didnt have any major FCOM business.

They have really tweaked their site up, and FCOM itself. Plus their wiki helped alot. I have to say that this time was a lot easier then last time. It may have a little to do with me already having a clue, but I think it is mainly because of all the time and effort they have put into it over the years!

I install a lot of mods and I have to say, besides the size of the files needed themselves it was pretty easy. of course, I'm a fruitcake because I'm so used to downloading, installing, and deleting mods that I know the ins and outs of most of the data folders. I suppose it was harder than installing other mods, but it wasn't necessarily hard
