Hey guys. Sorry for being a noob  I've tried to find the answer to this question, and I've looked through the changelogs of different patches, but can't find anything relating to what I am looking for.

From the very beginning of my skyrim game, I could not even get past the horse-carriage intro scene because everything was going crazy, horses and carriages flipping and making the camera doing somersaults. The only way I could fix this was by lowering my framerate as low as I could (it is now 60, lowest it can go), and it has made the game playable. But even with this "fix", I still encounter constant issues with the physics engine, to the point where sometimes I cannot even walk around because there's constant "impact" sounds being played even when I have not touched any furniture, they are all just bouncing on the spot by themselves or vibrating slightly. At one point, I got on my horse and started galloping but the horse kept being sent flying into the air with every little pebble it walked over. Then it fell from the sky and died and almost killed me too. Then there's that one time when I tried to open a tomb door, and the minute I touched it, it sent me flying through the door and to the other side, so I was trapped inside while the NPCs were outside.

So I was wondering if these physics engine issues could be solved by downloading a patch (I've checked my steam skyrim "read me" file and it says I only have version 1.1...), or if the true solution lies elsewhere?

The Physics engine is tied to the Refresh rate of the monitor. When Skyrim was released most ALL monitors were 60 Hz so you got 60 FPS and the physics engine was happy.

Fast forward to today and we have 144Hz monitors and Skyrim goes NUTS. The Vsync built into Skyrim is NON adjustable so the game will Sync to 144 FPS this is not good and the reason you have the "Intro" spazing out and things flying around.

Many ways around this , most Important is to disable the Vsync built into Skyrim. Its laggy and causes way more problems then its worth. Open the "Skyrimprefs.ini , find the line>>iPresentInterval=1<< and change the 1 to a 0 (zero). This will disable Skyrims Vsync.

Now you Need to CAP your FPS to 60 or Below, You did not say IF Nvidia or AMD. IF Nvidia I can Help . AMD not so much...lol

In Nvidia Try ..Adaptive Vsync..1/2 or 1/3 refresh rate . (think 1/3 is only available if using Nvidia Inspector).

IF using an ENB you can set it to control the Vsync also. I found Nvidia to be smother.

Edit: also one MOD in particular must not be enabled for the Intro.."Helgen reborn" actually its a good practice to not have any mods (except those needed to start the game IE: hair or race mods) and start adding mods after the Exit from the tutorial....

Normally I'm 100% on board with your technical advise. But this is a flagrant overreaction for anything but the most meager of systems, plain and simple. I have ~400 mods, all of which have been used at some point in load orders ranging from 20 plugins to 250, and Helgen Reborn is the only one I have ever had to leave inactive until after Helgen. This is like advising someone to not drive over 10KPH until they get to the highway - sure you may be safer, but there's really no need unless you're in your 80s and shouldn't be driving anyway.

lol..thanks for the 100% agree...

That has been the way to Mod a Bethesda game since Morrowind. Especially true in Oblivion, So i have always done modding this way, and keep a stable game. Heck i ran an FCOM 200++ Oblivion install for 5 years and with 1000' of Hours logged...Have 560 hours In Skyrim...I don't crash...so its the Advice i give.

And i only activate one mod at a time still , The Game Bryo engine is a fragile thing...and When you buy a Brand NEW car you have to take it easy , till the break in period is over...lol

I clock in at over 3000 hours of Skyrim, about 2800 of them on modded playthroughs. I've never activated mods one a time, nor waited until leaving Helgen to activate anything (the exception being Helgen Reborn). And never had any issues that didn't ultimately come down to missing compatibility patches and/or load order.

Like I said, it's not an unsafe recommendation by any stretch. Just like driving through the city at a fifth the posted limit is pretty safe. But if I'd been told when I first started modding Skyrim that I had to do it or risk not being able to play a modded game, I wouldn't have bothered. And I've have missed out on ~2800 hours of Skyrim in the last two years. I just felt it important to point out that it's by no means a requirement and a perfectly safe and stable load order can be easily achieved by installing your mods, running BOSS, and letting Wrye Bash write its patch.
