silvaob
Yesterday, I installed Fallout 3 in my laptop. Everything seemed fine untill I tried to start a new game. It crashed. I'm running windows 7 64bit and I've tried running it with every compatibility mode available, but it just won't work. Can someone please tell me what do to to fix this? I'm almost going bald from frustration :wallbash:

Before anything else, save and delete the Fallout.ini in the Documents\...\Fallout3\. To be sure do the same with the FalloutPrefs.ini. Remember you'll lose the former custom configurations while the game rebuild the ini with default values. It that does not resolve, return the previously saved ini files. But how do I make the game rebuild it? I just see an error message whenever I try to run it. Even after I restored the Fallout.ini. And I couldn't find the FalloutPrefs.ini.

If you do not have the Prefs, it's because you never changed something with the ingame options until now. Not a problem. Remember, if that does not solves the issue, probably you lack the ESM needed by some mod or has corrupted installation. In the later case the obvious solution is a complete reinstall, a clean one, you should not keep the former /data or even the former /Oblivion to assure nothing is left that can mess things again. If things are so bad that the reinstallation is need, remember to "uninstall" using the Setup inside the DVD, not the Uninstall inside the HD (windows uninstall) PS: IMPORTANT, before trying uninstall you should try backup and delete all your saved games. If after that you can create a new character, return one savegame at a time until the culprit is found.
silvaob
For a moment there it looked like it was going to work, but it crashed again. Is there any other solution for this problem? I really don't know what to do... :wallbash:
