Need Help Raising My Mysticism Skill!

I have a well balanced character, not particularly strong in any one category, but capable in magic, stealth and combat, just starting, only a lever 4 character so far. Anyway, I want to raise my mysticism skill to 25, pretty much for the sole purpose of being able to use the Soul Trap spell.

 

My problem is this. I started out with only level 5, read a book and raised it to level six. Ordinarily, you raise a skill by using it. But I can't find any mysticism spells that don't require you to be level 25 mysticism to use. I can buy training, but only for an additional 5 points per mastery level, right? So that would only bring me up to level 11, and then that's it for being able to buy training until I reach the next mastery level which is apprentice at level 25, right? Or am I missing something or misunderstanding something here?

 

I raised my destruction and alteration skills from level 5 to 25 by using weak, low level destruction and alteration spells often. But again I can't do that for mysticism because all the mysticism spells I can find all require you to already be at level 25 to use them. Its like there are no weak, low level mysticism spells out there.

 

Any suggestions?

Oops! OK, I feel a little dumb now. Just reread the game manual, and it says per level, I assumed mastery level. You have to admit its a little vague right there! Shoot, I'm a level four character now, had I known that before, I could've been at mysticism level 25 by now. My bad.

 

But still, paying for that much training gets pricy. Has anyone come across any weak, low-level mysticism spells that you can cast while having below 25 mysticism skill level?

OK, searched around a bit, can't find a minor detect life spell. The ones I've come across still require level 25 mysticism to use. Any ideas on where I can find a minor detect life spell that doesn't require level 25 mysticism to use?

Each of the guilds specialises in one form of magic. Try the one with mysticism. It is definitely there because I have it.

I had the same problem as you, and I found a really low detect life spell, don't remember where, just look at all the guilds for one though, you'll find it.

I had the same problem. Well apart from going to Leyawiin for training, you can also: get a mod for spellmaking at any guild (There are a couple I think) or get the service amulet ( http://www.tessource.net/files/file.php?id=2016 ) make a mystcism spell so weak it does not need anything and repeatably cast it. Otherwise do as Theta Orionis suggested: get a minor detect life spell.
