Can I replace companion appearance with that of another companion?

I'm relatively new to Skyrim but played Morrowind and Oblivion with many mods. I've added the companions Vilja, Camille Shy, Cerwiden and Sofia to my game and it's cluttered. I like the appearance of Camille but she adds no quests, dialog etc. Is there a novice-friendly way to take the appearance of Camille and replace that of either Cerwiden or Sophia, keeping the voice, dialog, plot, drunk animations etc. of the mod?

I appreciate any help.

Yes, there is a way.

You will need the following instructions so that you can first prepare the mods you wish to work with:

http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/754151-tutorials-without-youtoob/?p=6035531

If you have an account at the CK Wiki you can get a more concise and clearer version:

http://www.creationkit.com/Tutorial:_Using_third-party_mod_records

Setting up the mods to work with is the "hardest" part.

After getting them all set up and loaded in the CK

Go to the actor whose appearance you want to change and open their record.

At the bottom left is a Template Data section

For the ActorBase entry select the actor record for the actor whose appearance you want

Check the box Use Traits and uncheck all the others.

This will make the Traits tab go grey. You do not need to worry about face gen data as all that information will be pulled from the NPC whose appearance you wanted.

OK out of any open records

Save your new plugin

Go back to Wrye Bash and "espify" the plugins that were "esmified" earlier.

Test it in game.

At this point, you should have Camille wherever she is normally found and Cerwiden or Sophia looking just like Camille wherever they are found.

I know nothing about any of those follower mods so I am not going to attempt instructions to "remove" Camille so that you do not have two "identical" looking NPCs.

Thanks IM, I'll try it!

At the risk of sounding, stupid, CK is Creation Kit? I haven't used it before, but the instructions on your link seem clear and I found the DL though the main page of the wiki.

I'm new to Creation Kit. I DL'd it from the above link, installing it by default to the steam folder. When I tried to run it, I got a message preparing to load Creation Kit, then nothing. I uninstalled it and loaded it from the Steam Library>tools and got the same result. Any thoughts?

Unless Steam itself is having issues, no idea. I do not recall seeing that. Could be a one time first run thing where Steam ensures that the tool is up-to-date.

What is your Skyrim directory? What is the Creation Kit directory after it is installed?

It's in K:/program files (x86)/steam/steam apps/common/skyrim

If I try running it from the exe in the folder I "get system error: The program can't start because steam_api.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling to fix this problem"

I just realized, that might be the problem. I have skyrim installed at c:/elderscrollsskyrim/steam apps/common/skyrim I use the second hard drive for some programs I don't need to run fast and C (the SSD) for games. I'll try reinstalling it to the C pathway....

Yep, that fixed it!

I'll play around with it and try the fix you posted. Thanks!

I'm having some trouble.

I got Wrye Bash installed, got CK installed correctly and working, modified the SkyrimEditor ini to allow multiple master files, converted the 2 mods to masters in Bash but still can't load both in CK, getting the error message that I can't load 2 masters. Any ideas?

Would having mod manager open during the process mess it up?
