Was three times enough? Knowing our communntiy, probs not.

This mod is from an Italian guy called rvb3n.

His goal is to make a giant mod package.

These are the types of mods that you will find in his package:

- All of them are lore friendly

- A mix of small mods and big mods; you will probably know all the big mods on the list.

- His mod choices only edit the *vanilla Oblivion

- Once he is done, he will release them in several final *OMOD's

- These are his Catagories - Patch's; Interface Changes (I don't like his choices here; but all you have to do is not download that OMOD :P); Audio (not additionsi don't know how to describe it, look at the list); Re-Textures (this is the one you don't download if you don't have a super-computer).

- He also has several *WIP's Catagories - Enviromental Changes (Water Improvements, and Natural Enviroments would go here); Additions to the world (Better Cities, and UL, Castle Drunkenlore, and Elswyer - remeber this is still a WIP); NPC's (no AI in this part); Combat/Roleplaying; Misc.

* Vanila Oblivion: The original stuff on the disk that you bought. No extra stuff from modders. In other words - Combat, Cyrrodill, etc.

* OMOD: A type of mod installation that is very accessible by the user - (this equals GOOOOOD :P)

* WIP: This is not the final version - Work In Progress

That's exactly the point of the mod. You can simply download this, and then you can concentrate on which quest mods you would like.

Here's The Mod List:

DOWNLOAD AT YOUR OWN RISK - AND REMEMBER THAT THE INSTRUCTIONS ARE IN ITALIAN

If you do download this, you will not find any help here, as you will most likely be the first English person to download this.

I am sure that the Italian community will be willing to help you out, but unfortunatly, the mod creator has gone away for 3-4 months starting january something, so he can't help. Don't worry though, he will be back.

Also, I do not know what rvb3n means when he calls a mod "released". This might mean that all the mods work together, but they do not have an OMOD. I DON'T KNOW! Why don't you find out? And don't forget to tell us what happened, and post a couple videos/screenies.

Don't you hate downloading mods?

I mean seriously - so much things always manage to go wrong.

1. Takes like a gizzalion hours to download the mod.

2. You accidently extract the files one folder to far or one folder not far enough.

3. You can't find the stupid readme!!

4. Wyre mash decides to be a jerk.

5. When you finaly get it working, the game crashes.

6. You put your foot through the computer.

Wouldn't it be great, if you could download all the mods you want, without any problems? Nah, you say, not possible.

Nothings impossible thesedays. Keep up with the times.

There's this one italian guy who's not just keeping up with the times, but one step ahead!

His name..... is ....... rvb3n!!!!

(don't make fun of the name broski - I think it might be italian for something - or could just be gibberish.)

That's right, you heard my correctly, this guy is making a giant mod pack that can be easily downloaded as .............. an OMOD!!!!!! (this is where you cheer)

That was just a sneak peek; now you have to wait for me to get the page translated from italian to english.

That is simple unfeasible. There is no way so many conflicting mods would allow the "One mod to reunite them all". More than once people comes with "compiled list of all mods I think are the best" and never such a list fit Greeks and Trojans tastes.

The better is the ancient: Think about what you really want. It's to enhance the play feeling? have you already done almost everything the game has to offer and you wanna more quests? ...

Remember, mods that edits cells, existent object scripts, spawn points, significantly changes NPCs and/or leveled lists are the most probable cause of conflicting issues. You just need to look over the FCOM complexity to get an idea the difficulty that is to join a few bigger mods, the amount of patches to allow some smaller (not saying "worser" or less good/interesting here) mods to work together.

I think it isn't necessary to say the sheer number of already existent mods is so big that would overflow many people's hard disc's space.

So, the keyword is not "possibility", possible it may be, is it advantageous in some way? well, that's the question and not a question with just one answer.

Of course you're completely right, I did not make myself clear. This package does not add anything to the game. It only edits whats already there. In other words, it's not a giant quest mod package.

I did over exagerate a lot in a way, but this is still a very big thing. Think of how much mods you have active in your mod folder that edit the vanilla content. If you want go to the site, the mod names are in English, you'll see what I'm talking about.

EDIT: Well it does have mods like UL, and Better Cities, and FCOM, but I think thats it.

I think I understand what you're getting at. It would be nice to have a 'beginner's package' with all of the most popular and useful mods in OMOD format, so someone starting out, or returning to the game wouldn't have to spend hours perusing and installing mods. Those mods look good, most of them deal with game fixes.

Glad I was not misunderstood for trying being rude or smartass (I really feared it).

Mods choosing is too much subjective, for example I loved playing OOO as I loved playing Franco's overhauls, one at a time, but together they defeated the whole individual conceptual idea as it became clear when playing both with FCOM support. The result was somewhat mixed and chaotic. Yet I do know it's a subjective judgment that not holds true for everyone.

I tend to keep my games closely-knit with it's own "universe" to have a sense of continuity and purpose and fitness. I tend to valor smarter, quality enemies above quantity of them. I love the sense of danger/suspense and strategic approach for combat, nothing becomes so boring as smashing buttons all the time. I like having to ask around to find the way to go or just get something to do, preferably interesting/funny things to do.

So, despite I like many different mods, they not always fit together and I'm not talking about technical incompatibilities. For me at least, the worse incompatibility is that conceptual. I may like an installation with exuberant yet unpractical cloths and gear as I do like another more close to plausible/verisimile.

And if one only person may want so different mod's sets, what to say of many people? Sometimes the bad choice can harm the game more than immerse people in it. Some may shun the game looking as a kid's joke while others may want it just that way. Some may want it as Sims sim, there is no bad or good way to play Oblivion, just the preferred way.

But the real point is making mods compilations leads to maintenance issues that brings down any installation advantages... that is an open question yet.

In time: With some games was easier to make those monster Community packs, as those from Bioware indeed got. But there is a fundamental difference there. Paradoxally being harder to mod contributed to it, second almost all mods there tended to be fidel to lore and hardly diversionary or immersion breaking. For other hand Oblivion is much more easier to mod and gives an almost complete freedom in modding, the world too much open. That's good of course but can be bad too.

If I understand this right, your trying to compile other peoples work into one large mod? Major compilations like this have been attempted before but mostly permissions are not granted and thus many mods are left out. Sorry to sound like a killjoy. If your attempting something different then by all means, continue.

Appart from the UOP and MOBS nothings inside the package I would use. I somehow expected to see a list of hundreds of mods, but this doesn't even exceeds the list of mods I'm currently using.

And who said that music overhaul mods with miriads of unnecessary soundfiles are usefull? I'm playing without music, ever had, ever will. It's not like their having MP3 players down there in Cyrodill, right?

Um.... I'm not trying to do anything.

Remember, this isn't my mod, it's made by an italian guy (forgot his name again) -

Truth be told, I'm really not sure that he even realised that he was supposed to ask other modders permission for using their mod for this package. On the other hand, theres a good chance he did know, and that he did ask, and he got the permission, because I see no reason why any of these mod creators should have refused.

You say "Major compilations like this have been attempted before".

I've never heard of any. Which ones are you talking about?

Nosibab:

Although the mod's definetly not at this stage yet, eventually, I am sure you will be able to pick out the ones you want. And what your saying about maitenance issues - well, that's the whole point of the mod isn't it? That instead of having us do all the hard work making the mods work together, he does the hard work for us, and we get the finished product. Also, in his intro, he does say that he is going to try to keep this mod as close to the oblivion lore as possible. I don't know lol, I seem to be blabbering here. I'm going to update his complete mod list now, and hopefully you'll get my point by looking at the actual mods he is going to use.

Rifler:

Well at the end of my comment, I state that "i'm cutting the list of here because it's very long."

The means that theres actually a lot more mods in the final package :P

And what in the hell are you trying to say in your second paragraph? Lol.

Miriads?

" I'm playing without music, ever had, ever will."?

I'm guessing you mean never had, never will?

None of the mods on the list add an mp3 player to oblivion (and yes, I do know what you are talking about).

Don't worry, we all make stupid typos. :whistling:

fingolduin:

Yes! That's exactly what this is. It gives people the mods that edit the vanilla oblivion - so that you don't have to waste your time on that, and instead you can go dive deep into oblivion's quest mods!

I think I'm going to quote you in my new and revised intro
