carloud
Elow sirs/maam Im sorry to take your time but I was wondering why do my female npc companion lose the armor I give them whenever I travel to far places? I've given them this diano armor: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=19172 its sexy and they wear them nicely but after traveling to a few far places from the imperial city they revert back to their normal armor and whenever I check the equipment via "share" command (upon talking to the npc) the armor is lost err...any ideas on whats the problem? I tried doing the clean save technique for the nth number of times already but the npc still loses the armor.... any help would be greatly appreciated thanks and more power btw...just so I wont take up more space on the forum, err have been having issues with appachi's goddess store version 1.5 alot of meshes are missing the whole shops texture/mesh is cluttered with "wtf Im a missing mesh" icons even on the outside looking at the shop from the outside only the door and some leaves could be seen and inside, the goddess only have their heads no bodies whatsoever and whenever I try equipping the items bought my characters body also goes missing only the head is present  whoever could post some insights please do so thanks very much
bben46
Usually a companion reverting to vanilla armor or clothing is fixed by taking away the vanilla stuff. Missing bodies is a missing texture. check your installation - read the instructions again, be sure the meshes and textures are in the right folder. Try using OMOD or Bain to install. Try moving Apachii down in the load order. Or use BOSS to set load order.

Notice magical enhancements are not accounted. She will revert to a light armor in her inventory. Now, if she haven't the gear and yet reverts to vanilla... well, so that is a specific case worthy more study. PS: Since Apachii was mentioned, the above is specially true if the item is a cloth, even if it were the "Cloth of absolute invulnerability", the NPC always will wear the first armor she gets the hands on. LFact
And item value. If an actor have low class gear with 2 gold and good looking gear with 0 gold, the actor will wear low class gear.
Vagrant0
And if the actor is set to respawn, their inventory will be reset every few days as soon as a transition (like fast travel or sleeping) takes place.
carloud
dear sirs, first and foremost I would like to thank you for putting effort in helping me with my dilemma you guys are great I appreciate it  I've successfully installed the apachii mod my fault was I relied too much with the windows vista "merge folder with same content" when copying-pasting files to the oblivion/data folder What I did was too meticulously transfer each data/subfolder file matching the main folder sir bben- by taking away the vanilla stuff can I do this ingame with the "share" command feature or should I open up the construction set and load the cm partners file and delete the items from the npc names that I wanted to accompany me? sir nosisab- sorry for my noobish question but is there an actual way where I could identify what type of armor does an npc like? heheh Im kinda new to the game and was quite hyped by my colleagues on how wonderful oblivion modded is so I kinda jup started to modding the game as soon as I was quite comfortable with the main game controls and pacing sir lfact- thanks for the info, the diano mod is free so that must mean its low priority armor for my npc? is there a way around this btw? sir vagrant-now that you mention it dear sir, I notice that the npc which seems to frequently revert back to normal is the only npc companion that I've set to "respawn" it's also the npc which is quicker to revert to normal armor than the rest "essential npc companions" this is the companion that I've set to "respawn" btw http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=15150 so essentially- non essential characters get to reset their inventory to default...err anyways around this without having to turn her into an "essential" character? hehehe I find it more challenging to have a partner that could die if Im not careful hehe
bben46
The share inventory works to take away their vanilla armor. BTW, 'Sir' Lfact is in fact a lady - just like Sir Mazoga in the game.

Although you could script it where a persistant, non-essential NPC can be resurrected with scripting after a few days if killed, the NPC would still have their inventory revert after doing this. Although you can kinda get around that by dumping the NPCs inventory to a container before reviving them and then giving it back, then causing them to briefly play a package that forces them to re-equip their items, I would suspect that this is a bit more than you wanted to chew on just for the sake of having a companion who can die without popping back up again(although it isn't that hard).
