No, I just ask someone to make a mod about the portals in Portal. It's a very simple idea. You get a spell (or maybe a special weapon) that can open portals (two of them at least) that you can go "through" at. It's that simple, some of you that played Portal or at least watch a part of it should understand. Maybe after figuring the base of the mod (making portals possible), we can made an epic quest. Nothing too long, just innovative, creative and epic. Who knows, maybe this will be one of the best mods, EVER !!! (of course, with the epic quest) The epic quest maybe far different from the original game is all about, but more about things usual in Oblivion, like fighting enemies. We may also add many puzzles along the way, of course fun with the ability to make portal. But let's think about making the portals first, before moving on to the quest. --------------- Details - When the spell is casted and hit a target (it's a target spell), it will summons a portal. Cast another one and it will summon another one (maybe we can limit the active portals possible to two). - The spell casted must of course hit a target, most likely the "wall". This maybe a problem when we hit a NPC, furniture or everything else other than a wall. After hitting the target, a portal would summon very very very near the target. - The portal's shape maybe can be just like simply like this, not flat. Because it would make many problems. But it's better if it looks like the original one, or at least close to the original one. It's not going to be a huge portal like this, but far much smaller and slimmer.http://www.uesp.net/w/images/images.new/b/b5/Portal_to_Paradise.jpg - When we go through the portal, instead like a regular door, when we go through it, we are teleported (with script) to the other portal. I've seen this picture on another mod before. - Logiclly, it should be fun. We may also still keep the "never endless chasing ourselves" part in this mod. But it's impossible to see the other side of the portal, but it's still fun.http://www.gamesbloggo.com/wp-content/uploads/portal.jpg - We can't see the other site of the portal, that's too bad. - Portals like this are pretty useful (and a lot of fun) in the game, even without the unique quests. Example, you're chased by a very powerful knight, and you realized you're running toward a dead end. How ? Simple, summon a portal near, then summon a portal at the end of the dead end. Run to the portal (at the dead end), and you're safe because you teleported somewhere else. -------------- Problem is, I can't make the mod. I can give ideas and suggestions but not making the mod itself. That's why I'm creating a topic about it here. Suggestions, ideas and comments are welcome. I've played Portal, we probably can't get the portals so sophisticated that you can see through them, or have that momentum thing that Portal does, but a simple version is easy enough. If the spells set markers to the cell they hit, then it could mark that cell, and when the second spell is cast, it opens up a portal to that cell. Should be reasonably simple. Because that's the whole point. - Cannot be closed (you could use the cheat "disable"), but I want it to be far more simpler and more similiar to Valve's Portal. - The portal maybe a "door", so you have to activate it to move. I want that you just go through the portal, then suddenly you're in another place. - This portal is more for moving to far places, I want a portal more for moving in very short places, like in a cell. My idea is that there will be like a cave or a fort that is caving in, and you have to escape and fight your way out. We should also do momentum stuff, but if we somehow can make it, so, if you're at great speed and crashed into someone, he would be knocked off their feet or something. E.g. Gruemite is near you, you create a portal on the wall, and another above, then jump through one, come out the other 5 metres above, and land on top of Gruemite, he would be dead or knocked off from the impact. There's a mod for Fallout called Sprint, it allows you to tackle someone while sprinting, maybe if we could use similar scripts, we could make something like I said above.
