I'm having some trouble with mods.

Recommended Posts

I haven't played FO3 for awhile and wanted to try it again with as many mods crammed in there as possible. Almost turns it into a new game, right?

I spent some time downloading and installing mods from fallout3nexus. MMM, FOOK2, WMK... A lot of big ones and many smaller ones, too.

I ran FO3Edit in master update mode several times and everything seemed to work correctly, but when I try to create a merged patch this happens:

I get a long list of <Error: Could not be resolved>'s. The MergedPatch.esp is created anyway, but FO3 crashes to desktop, no matter if I run it with or without the mergedpatch.

I really don't want to do everything over again, so please help me with this!

I have attached some files that I hope will help.

I am no stranger to installing mods and I know that they have all been installed correctly.

I also have installed/applied:

ArchiveInvalidation Invalidated

Fallout mod manager

Fallout Script Extender - FOSE

Games for Windows LIVE Disabler

FO3 RAM Boost

Unofficial Fallout 3 Patch

Please tell me if there is anything else you need to know! Thank you in advance!

First you need to solve the crashing issue. Merging is not meant to correct that kind of trouble. You should merge only those mods that need it.

Now, something not directly related with the present issue, or not necessarily. Patches by definition should be the closest possible their subjects, you probably wanna not to override mods (I mean the others, not the merged one).

The long error's list tell us nothing but what came before does. You can try to let Overhead3PCamera.esp out of the patch (just tick only those mods you want to merge) and possibly the next on that list (that is shown incomplete), at least to find which mod is causing the issue.

Once you find it, disable it and try the game.

Notice if the game crashes immediately, it may be lacking a needed ESM.

PS: Not ticking a mod in FO3Edit does not disable it (to do so you need to use FOMM). Still, only the ticked ones will be part of the merged patch.

The Weapon Mod Kits readme said that I should create a merged patch when I had installed all the mods I want to use. That is incorrect, then?

So, I have to use FOMM to tick the mods that I want merge, and then create a merged patch? I can do that, but which mods should I tick?

EDIT: Also, kudos for replying!
