gruberscomplete
Firstly, this is not the same as Skyrim Online. This mod is NOT a TRUE Skyrim multiplayer, but it IS a TRUE Skyrim PVP. This mod, that I am proposing, is a much simpler version of a Skyrim multiplayer experience and would not have many of the vanilla dungeons or quests. It is a much smaller Skyrim world, but has a few points of interest:1. working PVP2. trading3. Chat4. Merchant NPC's5. Grouping THE WORLDThe world will be much smaller than the original one. It will stretch from Whiterun to Rorikstead and will NOT have any enemy NPC's.The world will just be the terrain of the vanilla game without any hostile NPC's - it will be a purely pvp world, to simplify any coding necessary.Take Whiterun and Rorikstead, have it be the only cities, and get rid of all the NPC's, and then add NPC's that will sell you equipment for gold. THE GAMEPLAYTwo factions- Stormcloaks and Imperials - spawn at opposing cities. When players start, they choose male or female, and imperials spawn as Imperials and stormcloaks spawn as Nords. Players then choose a class - mage, thief, or warrior, and are given basic equipment. Then they spawn in their cities and can join groups and go fight in the lands between the two cities for command points and kills. Any kills on the enemy team will result in earning gold, and you can't damage your own faction. Your faction is marked in a green marker, enemies as red. You can spend gold you earn in your city, When you die, you can lose your armor if someone searches you, and it takes you 30 seconds to respawn (in battle) or 10 seconds ( in your city) Everyone starts as level 1 with all skills at level 10, and you go up from there. THE CODEThis mod can be made by taking the normal landscape of Skyrim, cutting out that piece of it, and then writing a new launcher that fits the aforementioned criteria. A server is necessary, and coders with multiplayer programming experience will be necessary. If there is someone who would be interested in programming please leave a reply. I am serious about this mod, and it shouldn't be as hard to program as Skyrim Online. If you like my Idea, please spread it on, and maybe even ask Bethesda for help! Windwhistle
This seems like a good game idea. Although, I definitely can't make it. You have my support, though! :D
gruberscomplete
Thank you! I really want this mod to be created because Skyrim Online's developers had to stop working on it because they didn't have enough time. I already know Skyrim Online has a server and a custom launcher, it wouldn't take that long to do the same for a much smaller mod. No NPC's have to be remade, only checkpoints placed on the battlefield and multiplayer functionality to be implemented. Since this world is much smaller than what Skyrim Online wanted theirs to be, only a few "server nodes" would have to be processing data, and only data that players create - there won't be any extra data that NPC's generate. Lastly, since there are no "fighting" NPC's, they don't have to be synchronized on every player's screen. Only players have to be synchronized. While I'm not saying this mod is better than Skyrim Online, I am saying that it should be easier to program and less time consuming to do so. gruberscomplete
OK EVERYBODYSince no one wants to help me I will start making this mod by myself. I will call it "A Different Multiplayer". I will code it in C++. If anyone wants to help please do so. If someone could please help me find:1. A free dedicated server2. the Skyrim Development Kit - where do I get it from? Otherwise someone with the Dev Kit could help me so I don't have to download and install it, they could share? I will also do Blender so a file sharing site would be good. Edited July 31, 2014 by gruberscomplete
