MODs for a better FPS

Hi everyone!

I had problems with my save ; my charater walked slowely and I wasn't able to slove the problem.

So I uninstalled all Oblivion (37 Go of files, lol  ) and re-installed it with the MODs I remember having installed (OBMM, Qarl textures, Operation Optimization, HGEC, Natural environements, Blur Water, Rens Beauty Pack, etc, etc...). But the game slows horribly (With lags on the mouse), and it was not before the re-installing (60 FPS easily).

I installed for the moment (For graphics) : Qarl Textures, Better Cities, Natural Environements, Unique Landscapes, Water Blur, Operation Optimization, Optimized Qarl textures... And I think that's all. So I wonder which MODs I shoud install to slove this new problem.

I Run on Windows Vista with an Intel Duo Core Q8200 2.33 Ghz, 4 Go RAM, ATI Radeon HD5770 Vapor-X Overclock Edition and all the last drivers.

Thanks.

Wouldn't know unless you post a full load order. Are you using anything from the new OBGE project?

Simple stuff, try disabling any background applications when running oblivion. Disable any external AA and AF on your video card settings. Those can hurt your FPS if not used right.

Hello. :)

Ooop sorry, I forgot to write that I run on 1920x1080 with all graphics High, so no AA needed.

OBGE? What is it? :turned: EDIT : Oh it's the Motion blur mod ; no I don't downloaded it. ^^

Load Order? The list of all my actual runing mods? :turned:

Thank's Slawter! It works properly now (60 FPS), but I have vertical lines when I run, and the LOD makes the game slows.

Is there a MOD to make the LOD less... "loud" to load? I remember having downloaded a MOD to have better graphics for the LOD, but without harm the FPS. Which is the best for you?

Thanks again!

EDIT : Ah... Sh*t! My first problem is back. My character walks slow as hell even if I run. I don't know why it happens. Is anybody had this bug?

EDIT 2 : It's gone. But if someone can explain me this bug, it would be thankfull.

Optimized Qarl textures...

Do you mean Redemized? Because if not, consider this, or this.

Operation Optimization,

I'm not familiar with this. What is it supposed to do?

HGEC, Natural environements, Blur Water, Rens Beauty Pack, etc, etc...)

None of the ones you mention should affect your FPS. I can't speak to the "etc, etc" part, of course.

Check out the Oblivion Stutter Remover. Looks complex, I know, but if you read through what you can do and stick with the basic recommendations, I think you'll be surprised how much faster things are. Also consider a mod that purges cell buffers. Right now, I'm using LazyPCB, because it waits a user-defined period of time before purging those buffers.

You're not by any chance running a LOD viewer, are you? Those can dramatically slow things down. I personally use Really AEVWD, which sacrifices a bit of high end viewing for significant gains in performance. I don't recommend using it at all if you aren't using a LOD viewer, but if you already use a different one, give it some consideration.

Perhaps put up your entire mod list, in order of loading?

not certain what problem you are trying to solve.

but if you are trying to sneak in greater FPS

consider

"no wind", " no wind si"

the "no lights flicker" option in the brash patch

operation optimization (previously mentioned in this thread)

"low poly grass"

"Bomrets Detailed Normal Maps"

"Optimized LOD Landscape"

But if you are even considering using "Oblivion Stutter Remover" - read its readme thoroughly 10 times before you install!! It defaults to trying to achieve 10-30 FPS.

Hi all!

Thanks for your answers, but Slawter helped me a lot. I didn't know where was the problem, but I installed Gameboost and everything runs like before.

If you still have some problems, try turning off V-sync in your graphics card. This boosts FPS but it can also be bad as V-sync is used to stop monitor from producing tear lines. But since you got it handled then ignore this post.
