ScrollTron1c
Hi, seems like the width of attached posts in the imageshare section has just been reduced from ~900 to ~600 pixels. Was that intended, and if so, why? edit: Seems like this change has just been reverted, thanks  Edited August 1, 2014 by ScrollTron1c

ScrollTron1c
Apparently all pictures are now automatically resized to the ~600 width of the comments box, instead of remaining full size and being cut off if size > 600/900. This is actually a welcome change - i already wanted to suggest this in the past, because it saves a lot of time having to resize and upload every preview picture manually. Not sure though which effect this will have to the Nexus bandwith, because when people will start directly linking to their nexus-hosted images for previews and IMG links instead of using 3rd party hosters, i assume the hit on overall traffic could be quite heavy. aok
Have to say I don't like the change. I enjoy sharing the larger images that I host offsite (affecting nobody but the viewer) and enjoy viewing the larger images others have posted as well. Particularly story work.I hope this can be changed back. I notice you can expand it in editing but will revert back to the small size upon posting. ScrollTron1c
Let's say i wouldn't mind if the entire width of that section would be increased ;-) AFAIK it makes no difference to the traffic bandwith use, because the embedded images always have to be loaded in full size, no matter if the page rescales it to 320 or 1080 pixel width. Dark0ne
We've changed it to keep the aspect ratio but reduce the size to fit the actual size of the content block in the description. I much prefer it this way and it will be staying as such until such time as the page is redesigned so that the content area uses the full width of the site. aok
Makes sense. (At least there is a reason) I hope the page will be redesigned to a wider width soon, as I stated I do enjoy viewing the story style posts in a larger format. That aside I want to thank you for preserving the format that allows story style posts. That is appreciated.
ScrollTron1c
Thanks for the reply Dark0ne. And using nexus-hosted images directly for links within the page is not a problem? I am asking because i'm cleaning up the attached posts of my uploaded images right now, and with the new auto-rescaling i might as well skip embedding downsized previews on image hosting sites - as long as you guys are okay with that. Dark0ne
It shouldn't be an issue.
ScrollTron1c
Good to know, thanks. And keep up the good work with the Nexus :-)
