SharpDog
Can anyone tell me whether Ralyn and the woman at Ghostgate are required for any important quests without making this thread a spoiler ? I'm afraid I killed about half of the prople at Ghostgate (including two ordinators) to get the Auriel items (which I will re-enchant with a mod). I'm playing the GIANTS mod as well and I will play Tribunal and Bloodmoon when they come in the mail if any of that makes a difference. I paid the fines and the ordinators do not seem to be mad at me.
Pob
As far as I know, no they don't. Some people are needed for some of the quests, but not the main one. Hope this helps
Dark0ne
If you kill a person who is important to the main storyline a message box will show saying to load a save game, as you've killed a story critical character.
j0ckser
If you kill a person who is important to the main storyline a message box will show saying to load a save game, as you've killed a story critical character. While this is true, there are many other NPC's that are important to Faction, Shrine, and other miscellaneous quests for which no message pops up. In general I would be very careful about offing anyone who doesn't attack you first, unless there is a quest related to it, and even then be careful - there are some Thieves Guild and Fighter's Guild quests that are intertwined. If you want something that someone has, use the various skills and spells that would allow you to steal it, rather than just killing them. If they are wearing it, then beat them unconscious. "Here endeth the lesson." *steps down from soapbox* ;)
Marxist ßastard
Actually, you can't get equipped items by slapping an NPC unconcious. Also, that was disabled with a patch, along with talking to and pickpocketing NPCs that are aggressive towards the PC. And yes, it's definetly a bad idea to kill an NPC unless you've been ordered to do so and there is no other way out or the NPC attacks you unprovoked. I remember one moron... He heard that in the main quest, you have a duel with Bolvyn Venim. THe guy knew nothing about the strength of the NPC, nor did he have a clear reason to kill him, but the second he started Morrowind the next time, he taunted Venim a couple of times until he got bored and attacked him unprovoked. Later, he joins House Redoran. Indeed, there are no greater idiots in Morrowind than those that go around the island, cheating and randomly killing people. Stampede
So...I shouldn't mass-murder any more villages?? Man, just cut out my heart why don't ya? But just think of the children! Just a note, if you want to bring a dead NPC to life (if you have'nt disposed of the corpse that is) just bring up the console with ~ click on the corpse and type: Resurrect Hey presto! Back from the dead! I'm not sure how this effects the scripts for quests though....
Marxist ßastard
Resurrect won't change the Dead counter. Nothing short of TESAME-ing your saves will change the Dead counter. Therefore, a resurrect or PlaceatPC means absolutely nothing if an NPC confirms that another is dead.
