jaysus
to my experience and knowledge most people when they look for mods use the sort function to look for either "most downloads" or "most endorsed", however this obviously favors older mods over newer ones and hence becomes a spiral of nonense:an old mod got lots of downloads, people search for a mod and will find that mod again, however a new mod might be better but will never be found because the old file simply gets more downloads and will get even more so here comes my idea: add a sort function for the download to endorsement ratio, therefore the age of a mod doesnt matter as doesnt the actual number of endorsements but the ratio of people who downloaded it and people who loved it giving newer mods a much better chance to stand their ground if they are truly better example: mod A, 50k downloads, 10 endorsementsmod B, 300 downloads, 2 endorsements by the old system we could be pretty sure that mod A would be older and mod B newer, we would also assume on first sight that mod A is better, however the people who played the mod had a different opinion, of mod B about 0,6% loved the mod whereas of mod A only about 0,02% people loved it. as you can see sorting the files by that ratio would allow for a search according to quality instead of age which imo would make quite more sense
phoneyLogic
 In my experience people don't care to rate if you don't tell them so.I don't know what else the criteria why people rate a mod, but it is not quality. Some mods just don't get a rating though they have a higher quality and lots of downloads and only the author is not begging for getting ratings ... Thats why i suggested a "forced" rating systemhttp://thenexusforums.com/index.php?showtopic=195205
Dark0ne
This has been discussed before and it was generally accepted that such a ratio would be useless unless it was a unique downloads-to-endorsements ratio. I don't track unique downloads at this time as there are over 75 million rows in the download stats table that would take an age to update each and every time a download was started if implemented. Kaladryn
Hi! I came up with this idea, as I use Unique Downloads : Endorsements all the time (done in my head). Mods that are 20:1 are rare and always amazing, mods that are 30:1 to 40:1 are almost always very good. Mods that are 50:1 are often good but not always the best. Sometimes (especially with super popular mods) they have a poor ratio even through they are excellent mods, but it's rare, and generally only happens to mods that are hugely popular anyway. Obviously I'm resurrecting an old thread and it looks like you thought about this but didn't do it before because you didn't have the unique downloads stat. Now that you have it, I recommend reconsidering the ratio. Because it is another "useful tool" based on endorsements, it will lend greater insight into the importance of leaving feedback on mods you like. Or said the short way, this could lead to more use of the endorsement function.
