kahuna7
I'm having the same problem, FPS optimizer won't "validate" the running Morrowind process and therefore won't work. But deactivating the haggling optimization didn't help, nor did it help to start both Morrowind and the optimization tool in double admin mode (admin account + right click-> start in admin mode (whatever sense that makes). Any ideas other than that? I did manage go get it to run before with Windows 7 and with the GOTY edition I'm using now as well. No idea what's the difference now. o.O Edited June 2, 2018 by kahuna7
kahuna7
Ok, I now solved the issue for myself. Letting you know what I did: I reinstalled MW with my Antivirus turned off, then upon start at least the FPS Optimizer now works properly. I let the "better haggling" in MCP turned off, as it is indeed stated as non compatible there. Edited June 2, 2018 by kahuna7

Either way, after doing that the FPS optimizer works fine for me every time.mindbound wrote: It turned out that I hadn't turned off the haggling optimisation option at MCP, which is incompatible with FPS Optimizer. I started over with a clean Morrowind.exe, applied patches without the aforementioned, and now everything works for me.Glad I saw this thread. I was perplexed why distant view wasn't working. Looking at it now, MCP specifically states to disable that feature as it is incompatible with Optimizer. lolThis is why keeping notes can be useful in the end. cibrhusk
Can anyone tell me why this uses the 1.96 version from 2003 when there was a 1.96a version released in 2005 by the original author? I cannot find the actual changelog between 1.96 and 1.96a, I have the source for 1.96a from the web archive, but for the source of 1.96 there is no web archive, nor can I find it anywhere to compare. I've noticed the newer version does not allow window resizing, but that's a minor annoyance if it fixes something important. The only thing I got now is that Alexander released it almost two years later which makes me think there must be something fixed that was important enough for a revisit... 1.96a pops up first in the archive at 2005-11-13: https://web.archive.org/web/20051113233513/http://morrowind.nm.ru:80/tweaker/download.html Edited January 6, 2019 by cibrhusk

LarryX
If you want to use this with MGE XE and have Texture Problems in the Distance you can try and set the "View Distance Extra" Value to 0. This should deactivate the enhanced View Distance from FPS Optimizer and eliminates the Texture Bugs cause by this because MGE XE has his own View Distance settings. Â I use this because the Mouse Speed in the Menus in Morrowind is to Fast for me and this Program is the only thing i know that can change this. Â And if you want to use this with MCP (Morrowind Code Patch) you have to uncheck the "Better Haggling" Option in the MCP Interface Changes Menu or FPS Optimizer can not detect the game correctly. You can use a similar Feature called "Turbo Haggle" in the FPS Optimizer settings under the misc tab. Edited March 31, 2019 by LarryX
