I myself do believe in ghosts and stuff. I live in a very old house and have had alot of things happen here that can not be explained. People might say it is just a bit of story telling, which it is, i tell my ghost stories all the time, but they really happened. So there is no way i can't believe in them.

lol, I am making it sound like I am the little kid of 'The 6th Sence'. I see dead people. Normally on tv shows and movies, but i still see them!! I'm special too!!!

I don't know enough to say yes or no to a lot of things. Light waves (what we 'see') can be bent, twisted and refracted in a whole variety of conditions. The same applies to sound waves. What we are therefore genuinely seeing and hearing can well appear strange and frightening, especially if we have some reason to be in a state of heightened awareness. I once picked up police radio on my microwave - don't ask how, a scientist I am not. Hearing spectral voices coming from the kitchen at five in the morning was a shock. If the words hadn't been clear, I could have imagined something was trying to make contact. Though why anyone would have suggested I dance a foxtrot in Lima...

Can light and soundwaves be trapped? Can they get into a loop? In other words can they be years old when we see/hear them?

Turns elsewhere for guidance.

As for poltergeists... The world has very strange natural phenomena that produce effects very like those ascribed to poltergeists. I'm inclined to believe that such explanations will eventually be discovered in every case. But as I said, who knows?

Shall we go on yetis and ufos now?

I'm having a few problems at this end. I press send reply it starts, hangs then sends http error. I try sending again, same thing. I copy and save elsewhere to send later. When I come back I find both sends actually went. I did wonder if it might have happened this time but we had a crash at this end and I haven't been able to access this thread until now. Goin' home now!

How do you explain plates and other objects flying off shelves?

Are they sound vibrations too? :P

Before my exwife got smart and divorced me I could explain it easily.

I had done something she didn't like and she enjoyed such reactions.

The name 'flying saucer' also applied.

There were also lots of sound vibrations too, loud, piercing and accusative.

;)

Ah, Caveatar, I see you have been following Theta's advice (see Gamer exercise in off topic section) using 'taunt' on your wife to increase your speechcraft skills. Bribery might have been more appropriate under the circumstances.

Matrimonial responsibilities sound counterproductive to full enjoyment of Morrowind but again I'm sure Theta, who is (or has been) married will probably be able to tell us which skills in addition to speechcraft and athletics can be improved within marriage.

Block comes to mind from your experiences but there must be others.

Over to you Theta.

You are obviously not running the 'outright flattery' plugin. :P

However, being able to keep up the illusion that I spent all day doing housework when the dusting was in fact achieved by luring a cat to climb the bookshelves is certainly a valuable skill.

Alchemy equally - the higher your alchemy skill the less time do you have to spend on cooking whilst still achieving gourmet results.

Athletics is certainly required for dealing with a demanding laundry schedule. <_<

Does repairing the vacuum cleaner after it hoovered up lego for the 57th time that day count towards boosting your armourer skill?

However, this thread is now very very off topic, so I shall have to try and find a way to bring the debate back on course....

IMO, I think ghost sightings and the like are tricks our brains play on us.

There is a whole section of the brain dedicated to looking for faces. Because of this people often see weird things, after all most ghosts have faces. After your brain cells register some wird shadow they sometimes scream "FACE!!" and your logical center says "BUT THERE IS NOTHING THERE!!" then you get a ghost. It is funy really, I saw a picture of a burning building and I (along with 10 or so people I showed the picture to) would swear there is a ghostly face made out of the smoke, in reality it is just three dark spots arranged like the three vertices of an upside down triangle.
