MizunoTakarai
Hey there, fellow wastelanders!I've decided to start tinkering with Photoshop to edit textures but I've come across some trouble.I've downloaded the latest version of the NVIDIA DDS plugin for Photoshop but I get a freeze when I try to save the edited color map. I guess it has to do with the saving settings but, according to the tutorial I'm following, I've them set to DXT3 - 2D Texture - No MIP Maps and it should work. Any suggestions? As always, thanks in advance.
LHammonds
If nothing else works, download Paint.NET. It has built-in support for DDS so you can use it to convert from DDS to PNG and then edit with photoshop (save source as PSD) and when you are ready to flatten the image, save as PNG and use Paint.NET to convert to DDS. Ghogiel
what tutorial, what OS, what version of photoshop might be helpfull bits of info according to the tutorial I'm following, I've them set to DXT3 - 2D Texture - No MIP Maps and it should work. Any suggestions? use a different tutorial! lol unless you are making icons your textures won't actually work. I think you need at least 4 mipmap levels. many use 6-8. most use mipmaps set to all. by the time you are looking at level 6 the thing uses less than 1cm of screen space, so you can't make out shi anyway. unless you are using an alpha channel why use dxt3? in fact why use dxt3 even if you are? (dxt5 will keep a better represntation of what you put into the alpha)
Blumenkind1
Hm...Sometimes there is just something wrong with the location of the DDS-Plugin.I expirienced this issue the other day. for example:I use a german version of PS but the original Englisch Folders were still on my Hard Drive, so the automatic NVIDIA install shield installed the plug into the wrong folder. => check, if the installer put the plug into the right directory I had to manually put the dds-plug into the right (german named) folder.check this and then try it again : )
