xXShaddowTXx
Well congrats on the project and I agree with you on the restricting part it is hard to describe but I do know what you mean... WHAT NEVER PLAYED MORROWIND man you HAVE to play it I believe it is 5x better than Oblivion it may have worse graphics and animations and no speaking people (which annoy me in Oblivion anyways lol) but the story is 10x better and more involving and you accually want to know what will happen next instead of Oblivion's Fed-Ex storyilne where you just run around delivering stuff. It is just way more involving.. In Morrowind there is also no stupid compass quest pointers (infact there is no compass just a minimap and a real map in your menu). You have a better jurnal which is both easier to use and talks more like you wrote it then just useless info, infact sometimes the Jurnal will say things in a way that you might not have got from the person you talk to clerifying it so to say. People accually say your name (but I do know why they couldn't in Oblivion). Disposition is way better and bartering man it is so much better don't even get me started. The editor is WAY better easier to use, and the quest making is a million times easier. the diolog is all text in the game when you talk to someone a box comes up and you can talk just like Oblivion exept better in both Design and options (there are MANY MANY MANY more options in Diolog than in Oblivion). there is a Way better Story and Lore the Lore in the game is really truely immersive and expansive (meaning great Lore to mod into adding things that fit into it). And onme of the best things is not only is it Harder to play than Oblivion because you aren't liked by every single person in the game from the start (you must work your way up in reputation and by spreading a little of the Emporers gold around) but everything isn't handed to you on a platter you have to work for it and accually go out and Dungeon crawl a bit you CAN find hidden tresoure by talking to people about the latest rumors and such. You also don't get the dumb big menu popup telling you about a new quest you get a jurnal entry still but you have to remember directions or look them up in your jurnal if they are there and you do quests better to there arn't these wierd stages to the quest that are noticable outside the Editor. You have to think about what you are doing and accually plan ahead for adventure every road is dangerous sleeping is dangerous foget all the safety you ever had in Cyridill. Welcome to Morrowind. *theme Music for Morrowind plays* If you are wondering yes I did just write that off the top of my head lol. But really play Morrowind! And hell you should come mod it with me that is what I am doing now ; )
GreatLucifer
Well, I might get crucified by the community for saying this, but.... not too big on lore :P more of an immersive fan myself (I'd never get a gun or whatever ingame; but won't read entire stories either). And sorry man, but not having a compass or pointers would probably just p*** me off... lol :D I'm far too focussed on other things to have to keep thinking about that, already get annoyed when it doesn't have one right now. I have somewhat of an *odd* playstyle myself. And it could just be me, but even now that I've saved the entire world (finished the main storyquestline for the first time a few days ago), and the whole of bruma, the people still don't like me... :( The only actual amazing thing I just heard (no offence to you ofcourse ;)) is the ability of speaking your name (for NPCs that is). Really now? So in the older version they could actually say your name, and now just went around it in a lame way (especially get bugged by the lame arena names I get to choose from)? What ashame.. As for the arena, I'm not one to give up. If there's someone reading this who would like to help me / us out, I'd love collision in the outer arena ring, and will be sure to give kudos and credit (hello potential gooddo-er :)) (warning; offtopic comments!)PS; Shadow, if you like texted games, lore, and more importantly; SNES (2d / semi 3D) may I suggest RPGMaker2003 (short rm2k3, actual name RPGTsukuru2003) You might like it, and it gives justabout full control of what you're making. NOTHING premade however, you'd have to start from absolute scratch.PPS; to all those familiar with this, I know of the newer versions of this program. Just don't like em :) lol
xXShaddowTXx
The on topic: Well that sucks that you don't really pay attention to the lore in the games they add to the game so much .... : ( But about this: "The only actual amazing thing I just heard (no offence to you ofcourse ;)) is the ability of speaking your name (for NPCs that is). Really now? So in the older version they could actually say your name, and now just went around it in a lame way (especially get bugged by the lame arena names I get to choose from)? What ashame.." You misunderstood me (or I said it wrong) I meant when you talk to them in the dialog boxes to see what I mean look up Morrowind dialog boxes or something similar... actually just look up Morrowind pictures to see what it looks like. The games I like to play are 3d Sandbox RPGs Like Morrowind and Oblivion and I am assuming because I never played them Arena and Daggerfall. The off topic: That RPGmaker is something I'll look up immediately I always wanted to make a game.... Hey are you able to make models in Blender textures them and all that and use them in it? Thank you for the info!!!! : D
GreatLucifer
As for the lore, helas... The name I understand now. They 'write' your name so to speak, being no spoken dialog at al (I could have figured). As for RM2k3, it's even far easier (and more primitive thereby) and uses nothing 3D at all... You could even use MSPaint if you wanted to, but I suggest Idraw or CharacterMaker99. Yes, is it primitive compared to the modern 3d stuff... bu to each their own I suppose. One of the main things I like about this is the 'power' it gives you. With enough work and knowledge, a single person could create an entire game in about 6 months. Everything from animation, objects, characters, maps, scripting, sound and you name it. Completely from scratch. Feels rewarding though ;) Remember LoZ (Zelda) for the SNES? It's somewhat like that.. If you know german, I recommend rpg-atelier.de. Simple site with many nice things. To get the program you're kind of on you own, as I don't know the legal side of these matters, and will neither offend Enterbrain (RM2k3 makers) nor the staff of this site. xXShaddowTXx
Hmmm I like the idea of the Game maker but is there a 3d version at all? something to where I can build a sandbox RPG like Elderscrolls but of course different menus and effects and ways to do anything? Also a simple question are you allowed to make a game with the CS (Construction set) for Oblivion or Morrowind and if not releasable then can you do it for private use and even then is it possible? and about Morrowind there is spoken dialog but it is different people don't have conversations with you or anyone else like in Oblivion they just say things to you when you walk by like: How do you like our city outlander? Welcome to Peligiade. I don't know how I got there but there I was standing there... naked. and so-on just random things and that is the only spoken dialog in the game....unless you count *curtain events in which it gets a bit more into spoken dialog
GreatLucifer
At the morrowind speech, LOL :P As for the 3D sandbox gamemaker, probably, but not really my field. I suppose the CS falls under this category. As for this; Also a simple question are you allowed to make a game with the CS (Construction set) for Oblivion or Morrowind and if not releasable then can you do it for private use and even then is it possible? What? Don't really understand what you mean...
xXShaddowTXx
I meant are you allowed to remake Morrowind .... wait a TC lol A'h lololoololol I meant make a TC BUT are you able (as in is it possible) to make it completely new as in have a different menu for everything maybe a different Game engine through the CS?
GreatLucifer
Not through the CS. It is possible if you somehow get the sourcecode (not sure if this is legal) and learn programming like a veteran. Possible? Maybe.. Realistic? No..
xXShaddowTXx
Well then I'll stick to just modding Morrowind thank you though. any new expansions to your mod? also about the collision why don't you make it by adding those stone tiles that are used as traps underneath the ground so that you can just barely not see them but you can walk on them and just take away the scripts so they don't do anything...
GreatLucifer
Mainly bacause no part of this ring has collision, so making it fool-proof so to speak would require about a thousand stones atleast... I feel lag coming up ;) Update;-Practicing heightmapeditor, restructuring village-Adding armycamps-Adding noblemen (and women)
