virus adverts

recently my antivirus has been alerting me to some adverts on the nexus as being trojans. does anyone else get this or is it a problem with my computer?

I had a fake scan webpage that popped up at me on Sunday while on nexus but I dismissed it. I think it's rare when I get it now since last time it was often. http://thenexusforums.com/public/style_emoticons/default/ermm.gif

I’m using Windows Explorer and Zone Alarm

I get the warning occasionally when I try to open a mod page on the nexus Zone stops the page opening.

If I try again a few seconds later there is no problem with the same page?

That's normal as ads are rotated and not bound to any specific pages.

 

Here's another security trick: run your browser with reduced privileges. Here's a page that explains how to do it. Here's the download page for Drop My Rights, which includes explanation for why you should use it.

 

For those using a 32 bit OS, there's also Sandboxie, which IIRC includes similar functionality in addition to its sandboxing capabilities.

Admuncher is definately the best Add blocker out there and it is freeware too :)
