Flickering textures

Ive been looking for an answer on these forums but I can't seem to find one. All my mods are working fine but on the ones where the modders designed there own equipment and weapons. The textures for the gear seem to change every color in existence and it changes while walking turning holding still ect.

Any ideas could it be my video card or is there anything I can install to stabilize and correct the textures.

Thank you so much for whoever answers this question.

I used to face the same problem earlier when I had just started to install mods (especially clothing mods) and even I thought that my video card is the culprit.Lol. No your video card is not to be blamed. Its just how you install the mods. This is what i do to install mods correctly. I hope it helps.-

1- After downloading the file I copy it from the downloads folder and paste it on the desktop. Here I extract it with winRar

2- On extracting you'll mostly find 3 items (there could be more though) an esp and 2 folders named Meshes and textures.

3- you need to copy all 3 and paste them in your data folder -example - paste the contents of the meshes folder in Local Drive D\programfiles\bethesdasoftworks\fallout3\data\meshes and those of the textures folder in Local Drive D\programfiles\bethesdasoftworks\fallout3\data\textures. The color change\flicker problem usually occurs when the texture paths are not observed. I hope this method helps else there is yet another thing ( that I know of ) which can be done to rectify this problem.

  1. Make sure AII (Archive Invalidation Invalidated) is started up. I seriously recommend FOMM (Fallout Mod Manager) for that. Redo it if necessary. Some mods require this, apparantly. It can't hurt re-doing it.
  2. Use FOMM's package manager to install it. That way, assuming the folder structure in the compressed file right, the install will be too. Less prone to mistake.
  3. Open the compressed file (aka .zip or something) and see. Does it use a .bsa file? If so, Fallout is probably not automatically activating them, though you should be getting other errors then. Either way, download LittleBoy, install it, and use its BSA manager, and see if any .bsa files are not tagged. This can often happen for DLC that needs to be put manually in the Data folder. Turn any tags on that aren't on, unless its from a mod thats not activated in your load order. It won't hurt having the .bsa enabled then, but you'll let it load some unnecessary stuff = possible lower framerate.

If all else fails, search the forums again, I'm sure I read something similar. Try to search the forums for "Flicker" and dig through the results. Patience pays off.

Wow, I honestly feel stupid after doing everything that was on this list. I googled "Archive Invalidation Invalidated" and sure as s#*! came up to a youtube video that told me to download a mod that had that capability to activate it. HOWEVER, I read a comment saying the Nexus Mod Manger already has an option in their toolbar that activates the Archive Invalidation. I uninstalled all the crap that everyone told me to download (FOSE, FMM, LittleBoy, etc.), went back to Nexus Mod Manager and activated the Archive Invalidation tool. EVERY MOD WORKS NOW!

Well, this thread is from 2010, before NMM was released, which is why it contains "all the crap everyone told me to download", which is a lousy attitude towards people taking the time to help out others.
