GamerGuySince95
Hey guys, I'm fairly new to modding, and had a pretty general question. Generally, I've used either NMM or MO for my modding, but I run into a problem with both. There are some mods that I want where the "download via NMM" option is simply not available, with manual download being the only option. Is there a specific method I should be following here, I'd really not like to mess up my game due to my lack of knowledge. Thanks
bojanni
Just download the mod manually. In your mod manager (I am using MO) click on the icon in the left-top corner of your screen and open the downloaded archive. GamerGuySince95
Thanks for the reply. Also (using MO), is there a way to delete all the Non-MO mods off of the mods display screen? I right click on them and "delete" doesn't seem to be an option. I was looking to just start with a clean slate
bojanni
Well, for me the only non-mo mods are the original game files which are in the data-folder. I would advise not to remove them :) Or did you place other mods directly in the Skyrim/data folder?
camaro_69_327
Thanks for the reply. Also (using MO), is there a way to delete all the Non-MO mods off of the mods display screen? I right click on them and "delete" doesn't seem to be an option. I was looking to just start with a clean slateIn MO...top row of Icons is a Wrench/screwdriver (settings and Workarounds) open that ...last TAB is [workarounds] on that tab you will see.."Display MODS installed outside MO" removing the check mark and MO wont show you that stuff anymore...BUT it will still be installed. So...... If you really want a clean slate leave that ticked and use the STEP guide to have a Vanilla Skyrim. As "bojanni", I only see the Official game files as installed outside MO. NewThalos
To add to what camero_69_327 said regarding using Mod Organizer (truly the best mod organizing software there is), I often find myself customizing, creating, deleting, editing, merging, etc etc--- directly from the folder itself and not inside MO at all. This is a great way to setup category separator "dummy mods" and other neat tricks. Here's a picture of something I threw together for the sake of this thread: STEP 1: http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn91/zhalls/Skyrim%20Troubleshooting/MO%20troubleshooting/fakemodorder2.jpg STEP 2: http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn91/zhalls/Skyrim%20Troubleshooting/MO%20troubleshooting/fakemodorder.jpg Anyhow, you can manipulate any mod directly in just about any way you can imagine directly from the Windows Explorer folder, and not even have to have MO running. That's how sweet and easy MO is to use.
camaro_69_327
@ Skyrimcliff.....Just checkingbut you do know that MO has an extensive Category system?? you can add Categories and change them to what you want inside MO...:) Fully Collapsed fits on one screen. One page...takes 9 screenshots to see entire expanded MO setup...lmao. In that far left pane..right click and add Category...call it what ever you want... I use those place holder folders to carry notes and instructions for various stuff. And my focus is on the load order, not necessary the categories. It's how I track if someone is in the right palce, or if LOOT isn't using the designated rules, etc. But as you say, the built in category system is indeed sexy.
