Omod admin. problem

Recommended Posts

So I am new with use of Omod. I am trying to open a .omod file but it won't let me. I right click omod and select run as admin and it works. Then I try to open the .omod file and it doesn't want to open.

So I close Omod and try to open it again. And AGAIN it won't open it because I did not open it as a admin.

First question, why in gods name does the program work this way

2nd what do I have to do to open that omod file

1 - what directory did you install Oblivion into

2 - what operating system are you using

3 - did you read the instructions when you installed OBMM (needed to use OMODs properly)

1-C drive-program files(not important)

2- windows 7(not important)

3- yes I read it. I just want to know how to run as admin at all times. It won't give an option

*I figured it out asking 4chan* thanks for nothing, was a easy question

Another question, why in gods name is this forum so slow?

you declare both #1 and #2 as not important

they are exactly what is giving you this problem

If you don't believe

look into UAC

#1 & #2 are both related and important - That's why he asked.

Win 7 protects all programs installed in the program files folders with its UAC.

UAC blocks changes to programs - such as mods - automatically.

Even running as admin all of the time will not allow you to run without elevating the privileges. Its like even though you are signed on as an administrator, it wants you to approve again.

My guess is your buddies at 4chan told you how to disable UAC. That will work, However, I do not recommend disabling UAC as that leaves a door unlocked for malware. Instead, reinstall to a folder outside of the program files folders. I recommend creating one C:\Games\Oblivion and installing there. Then you will not be bothered by the constant UAC badgering you for approval to do what you want to do. And your important files will still be protected from changes by malware - like turning off your anti virus and firewall so they can do whatever they want with your their computer.

The forums are slow right now because of the huge number of new people who just bought Oblivion during the steam special. They all logged in to download mods and ask how to do things. When the rush is over it will speed back up.

I am having the same issue. I have put the oblivion folder in the C:\games\oblivion dir. I am able to run the omod directly by clicking run as admin but then when i go to run the mod that I downloaded it says " Limited users cannot install new mods. Please log on as an admin." I try to right click on ShippingInCyrodil_BC_NL_V1-1_OMOD-17201, (which is the mod that i am trying to install), and I try to run it as admin but there is not option to do this. What am I doing wrong?

OS Windows 7

Dir. C:\games\Oblivion

P.S. I also should add that when i try to just open it, it says

" An unhandled exception occured. Extra information should have been saved to 'obmm_crashdump.txt' in oblivion's base directory. Error message: Access to the path 'C:\Games\Oblivion\obmm\pipe' is denied."

What does this mean?

Umm.... Hello? Anyone there?

I am having the same problem. I am running Windows 7, logged in as administrator, and tried to install OMOD to a different folder than Oblivion, but the installer won't let me - it says it must be installed where Oblivion was installed. How do I install it elsewhere?

Simple, you can't.

Try installing oblivion somewhere other than program files folder.

You will need to reinstall OBMM into the changed directory. The problem is that OBMM creates two directories in the Oblivion install path, if this has changed since OBMM's installation you get that message you just posted. Uninstall OBMM and reinstall to the new Oblivion directory.
