ElricOfGrans
This one surprised me. I had not been to the imperial waterfront in quite a while before today. When I stepped out of the tunnel, I had about three seconds of choppy movement before CTD. I tried again, same result. Reloaded and stood still, same result. Reloaded, looked only at the ground, same result. Odd. I only have one mod that directly impacts this area: Better Cities. I unloaded Better Cities and tried again. No problems this time. I had been to the waterfront with Better Cities before, however, so it seemed more likely an odd conflict. There were two more general mods I use that could impact, so I unloaded Animated Window Lighting System and Qarl's Texture Pack 3 Redimised, then reloaded Better Cities. I tried again and no problems. I then reloaded AWLS and tried again; no problems. I finally put QTP3 back on (reloading AWLS with QTP3 options turned on again) and the crash returned. I should easily have the specs to run these two together, so it seems more than a little odd. Has anyone any ideas to what could be happening here? EDIT:I just tried reinstalling Oblivion then reloading all my mods (trimming out a few mods in the process). I have attached the order I loaded the mods from OBMM (I then used BOSS to get the final order, which is shown in my attached modlist). I used Wrye Bash after this, merging anything I could, then ran TES4LODGen. I launched with OBSE and loaded from a save a little further back from where the problems were occurring. I was able to enter the Waterfront and I seem able to stand at the gate without issues now, but the moment I get to the far side of the lighthouse (no matter where I look) I get a CTD. I have also tried turning off water effects (reflection/ripples), but this makes no difference to either FPS nor the crash.

Hickory
Better Cities has been updated 3 times in the last few days. Please re-download and reinstall BBC.
chaospearl
When you say CTD, do you mean an instant crash where one moment you're playing the game and then suddenly you're looking at your desktop without any warning? Or do you mean the kind of crash where the game shuts down and an error box pops up saying "Windows has experienced an error... Oblivion has stopped working" or something along those lines? I'm not a technical person, so I don't know what the reason behind my experience is, however I have noticed that anytime my game CTDs and I get the Windows error message, that means the problem was due to either a mod conflict, a mod error, or just a plain ole Oblivion game error. I'll reload my game and continue doing the exact same thing I'd been doing when I crashed, and if I crash again I know we're talking mod conflict. Then I start hunting it down. If I don't crash again in the same spot I chalk it up to the game's general instability combined with the 300+ mods I insist on running. On the other hand, if I crash suddenly to desktop with no shutdown or error box whatsoever, that always means my system hit its limit in some way. Buffer overflow, out of memory, whatever it is that means I've been playing for too many hours without a break and the game can't hold anymore without resetting its cache. It happens a lot more frequently in two specific places, those being the Imperial City Waterfront and the Anvil Docks. I do use Better Cities. I tried out QTP once, but wasn't all that impressed by it, and it brought my "sudden desktop without error" frequency considerably higher. I don't use it anymore. TL;DR: If your crash to desktop comes with a Windows error box popup, the problem's likely a mod conflict somehow and not your system specs. If you're just suddenly seeing desktop without warning, it's more likely to be a VRAM or other "I can't handle this much!" issue.
AdamRundolf001
I feel the same way. . . If it crashes even once, its out of my game.
