kieranfoy
Hi, guys. I was reading the WFB Lexicanum, and an idea struck me. There are all sorts of nifty looking staves out there, but here's a cool two. You know the Crystal Staff involved in the Better Mousetrap quest in Shivering Isles, the wooden one's with the Order Crystal on them? Well, I had an idea: Take the Order Crsytal, and remove it. Then, replace that crystal with a scaled to fit version of the Great Welkynd Stone, and add these runes, made to look as if carved into the wood, along the side, preferrably snaking their way along the staffs shaft: http://fc03.devianta...by_KarmaBoo.jpg You should also give the runes a glowmap so they glow a rich blue in the dark. You might even retexture the staff to look like this wood: http://images.clipar...-Background.jpg before adding the runes. I'd advise using Zprosperos' method with this, as he's da bomb with textures. A second version might retexture the staff a darker color: http://www.missionst...MikadoEbony.jpg and add in a dark green retexture of the Order Crystal, perhaps one that pulsed like the Dark Welkynd Stones, and with these runes: http://fc07.devianta...eepinschtum.jpg engraved along the staff, with a dark green glowmap. Well, I'm tapped out for ideas. How about you?PLEASE: Comment if you like the idea. Keep the thread alive. Or at least productively undead. ub3rman123
I think I can do that. Weapons are fun! I wish I knew how to do collision so I could do other models as well. I'll start tomorrow. Also: Again with the neon green! Some of us have sensitive eyes.

ziitch
Heh, I was going to point you to the Armamentarium upload of staffs, but that's not what you want.... ub3rman123: Collision meshing in Blender (if that's what you're using) is very easy - the exporter will pick up bounds meshes as Havok collision meshes. As for creating the collision mesh, it's a basically a low-poly version of your model - Here, use this tutorial: Havok collision meshing in Blender
alonsomartinez
Good luck removing the crystal is hard work then you comletely have to make all new faces and trust me it gets really tricky I tried before and I ended up giving up

ub3rman123
Hmm, still trying to pull out the crystal. Selection is tricky; I may just remove the entire top half of the staff and rebuild it sans crystal.

kieranfoy
@Uberman: Well, I;m sorry it's trciky. Is tehre any way to simple retxture the existing crystal the same color as the Great Welkynd, without removing it?
ub3rman123
I don't know a thing about how to texture from Blender, so I'll stick to duplicating certain points. The crystal fits quite nicely, though. Why don't you try requesting something involving the Fork of Horripilation?
