ultskeletor
I'm just getting into modding, and I haven't seen this particular question covered elsewhere. I'm working in the GECK at the moment. Fallout 3 apparently uses pounds as its unit for weight, judging from object weights in GECK, a couple of mentions on the GECK wiki, and the text of the perks that increase your carry weight limit. What about range and distance, though? If GECK's units don't map directly to feet or meters, does anyone have a rough estimate of how many units are in either a real-world foot or meter? ub3rman123
From what I've read, weight is measured by beer bottles. One unit of weight == one bottle of beer. The unit of distance is one bottle of beer standing up per unit. I really wish I could find that interview that said that.
rtol321
I've heard somewhere that the world is about 14 sq miles. That's 196 miles of total landmass. So im pretty sure if you find out now many cells are in the world, and divide that be 196, you will come out with a decimal point that can then be converted into feet, which will be the total space covered by each cell. Forgive me if I'm wrong. I haven't been in a math class for quite a while.
pkleiss
As I understand it, 128 units is about 6 feet or 21 1/3 (21.333) units per foot or 1 4/5 (1.78) units per inch.
Ghogiel
As I understand it, 128 units is about 6 feet or 21 1/3 (21.333) units per foot or 1 4/5 (1.78) units per inch.this These are based on 3dsmax standard units. which are by default 1 max unit = 1 inch, why they didn't use them as inches is probably the fact that they wanted to use power of 2 convention. would get annoying and weird if you aren't using numbers like, 16, 64, 128, 512 ect... Cipscis
For those of us not in Burma, Liberia, or the USA, that's about 70 units per metre. Cipscis
pkleiss
^^lol Leave it to Cipscis to clear that up. So, Cipscis, are those countries you mentioned a complete list of all the countries still using the old British standard system? Funny, isn't it, that the Brits don't even use it anymore, but the USA does.
Cipscis
Yeah, as far as I know those are the only countries that haven't officially adopted the International System of Units. If there are any more, then they're probably small enough not to matter anyway, like Sealand. Cipscis
