So, my rant... :D Apologies for it being UK-centric, but my opinions on the US politicians cannot be expressed politely, nor do I know enough about their political system to provide recommendations for improvement.

 

The UK should distance itself from our American cousins - leave that mess well alone for a while, and try not to get drawn into any other madness.

 

The UK should get rid of the House of Lords - no reason whatsoever for that House to be there.

 

Stop the political appointment of ministers, and have each ministirial area elect a representative from within their own ranks - how can an uneducated politician understand how that area works? Oh and while they're at it, remove all ministirial priviledges. I'm sick and damn tired of paying for their luxury.

 

Have the members of the BNP and UKIP castrated and executed, in that order if possible. Racist bastards have no right to political representation.

 

Introduce "the right of insurrection". This was first thought up by revolutionary France in 1789, but never enacted. Basically, make politicians accountable to the people they are supposed to represent.

 

Sort the bloody benefit system out. Amalgamate all the existing benefit agencies into one, and work out a graded system of benefits that is universal to all.

 

Bring back Maggie... just joking ;D That's all I can think of off the top of my head.

I think there are very important things we can do. Peregrine is clearly US presidential material - he has the combined brainpower of George W Bush, Ronald Reagan and Nancy Reagan together; quite incredible. He needs experience, though. Marxist B, I hear there is soon to be an expedition to Uranus (you got lost up there I hear). Peregrine should certainly be asked to lead it.

 

Planting more trees is a good idea. Is methane good for fuelling plant growth? If so planting trees on the bodies of decomposing politicians (who are notoriously full of hot air and gas already) would be brilliant. So let us kill politicians to renourish the planet.

 

And I have to agree the that US should pull out of Iraq. They should pull out of anywhere where they are as much use as a eunuch in a brothel. Unfortunately who would want to repopulate North Armerica then?

I forgot to add a point: increased use of nuclear weapons to remove all external threats to the great American Empire. But really, China isn't going to be a superpower in the forseeable future. In economics, they'll be a major force, but hell will be frozen over before they get a military advantage.

 

 

But how about you actually provide a specific counter-argument to whichever points you're disagreeing with? I'm sure it's much easier to just throw around anti-America comments because it's the cool thing to do, but that's not exactly a productive debate.

Problem fixed. And yes, the only thing wrong with Sweden is the fact that you (at the time you posted) live there. But there is a basic rule that states that all problems can be solved with sufficiently large quantities of explosives... I'm just taking that to its logical conclusion, and making sure I do the job right.

 

 

My point was that this thread is just impossibly vague. Take a look at my post back there, and how many subjects it covers. Any one of those could produce a long and detailed debate. There's no way to debate that many things in one thread, so you need to narrow it down to a single subject.

Do they not already have the world's largest standing army? Perhaps they may lack the technological advancements of the US military (although I wonder how much that helped them in Iraq), but I would think twice before writing China off as a military power.

Let me just do Peregrine's argument for him: yes, world's largest standing army, but they can't get them anywhere (i.e. no method of moving a million soldiers from China to America to bitchslap them with AK-47's).

 

As for hardware due to their nice alliance with Russia (which has now disappated a little) they own some of the best military hardware in the world, including the MiG attack jets that are noteable better than the American made F-XX models. The Soviet attack helicopters are also superior to their American counter-parts being better at taking out tanks, aircraft and having a higher survivability in the field.

 

They've definately got the hardware, the nukes, and the man power, they just have no way of moving it at the moment ;)

Well hey, what a surprise, wars are won or lost based on logistics. China has no way of moving their military to project that power, and will not for the forseeable future. And they have even less ability to protect that power and avoid having a million soldiers dead when the US navy sinks their transport ships.

Do you get your information from game stats? First, China has very few modern aircraft, their own industry's products being a complete disappointment. But more importantly, sure, they might beat the older F-16/F-15s, but that's kind of expected for 20 year old designs nearing the end of their useful life. Fortunately the US has the F-22, a fighter nobody can match right now.

Fortunately China doesn't have any of those, at least as far as I could tell. The information might be out of date, but I doubt China has suddenly obtained large numbers of them.

At the moment? More like ever... they can't even project that power into Taiwan, which is a trivial distance compared to taking on the US. Like it or not, no power-projection capability means their entire military is useless unless someone tries to invade (as opposed to simply bombing them back to the stone age).

I'm in South Africa, and I just wish I could see something else on the news. Like the american electoral process. Again. Yeah right.

 

I'm South African too, what our goverment needs to do in my opinion is:

 

Restore power back to our police officers and stop cutting back on funding. In a country with more (God, I can't even type it)...BABY RAPES than any other in the world, our goverment has just scrapped the child protection unit. I kid you not. Our cops are so underpaid it's frightening.

 

Build more and upgrade current prisons. Criminals are scum and I hate them, but sticking them into institutions where forced sodomy and aids is a given turns thieves into murderers and murderers into animals. Our rehabilitation facilities are a joke.

 

Scrap the new gun laws. Hello, news flash, making gun ownsership illegal will not lessen crime. (One need only look at the amount of violent crimes in the UK), one of the best ways a goverment can oppress it's populous is by disarming them. Conspiracies of genocide against the former priviledged ethnic group abound and it's almost too easy to believe them. I was about to apply for my firearm competency license at the gunsmith down the road, it's been in operation for 20 years and has just now closed its doors for good...because thanks to the new laws he has been unable to issue a license in the past 23 months!

 

Enough with political correctness already. "She's not a prostitute, she's a sex-worker. Oh he's not a rapist, he is a victim of circumstance..." renaming streets and tearing down statues is a waste of time and money. Papers are not even allowed to release identikits describing the suspect as black or white because OMG ITS TOO RACIST!

 

Call a spade a spade already, we have a booming economy, crime is an ugly blight that is raging out of control. It's not a matter anymore of hoping you don't become a victim, it's a matter of being thankful for each day you are alive and healthy.
