Wooden "realistic" bows replacer

Hello to everyone on the forum!

First of all, this is my first topic so let me explain how I consider the fantasy, so it will be easier for me to explain the request for the mod. All people who thinks like me will be welcome.

I like fantasy in a "semi-realistic" manner, because I like very much the concepts of magic, gods, and all, but in my opinion they have to be in a world in which normal people use normal weapons and a realistic style of life. Only a small group have the power (or the will or the posibilities), to use arcane powers and weapons. And, in my opinion, this have to be rapresented graphically: for this i use really a lot of mods that add or change armors and weapons with chainmails and viking swords.

Maybe because I'm fond of greek and norse mitology I have this impression, that meanwhile divinities and heroes confront each others over laws of nature, the base of the society, and the world, is more bind to realism, to the ground, in some cases almost primitive.

Saying that, this what I ask: someone could kindly make a replacer for the vanilla bows that made them more "realistic" and wooden? (as far as for a fantasy game)

I didn't find a mod that do what I precisely ask: at the moment I use the CM Wooden Bows of Cutthroat Mods from http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/49777/?

It's a well made mod, but it change only the textures of the bows. I would like a change for the models themselves. The vanilla models seem to be too heavy, a little disproportionate, and at the same time a little too small to work. For the proportions, I know there are some mods that make bows narrower. And others mod make them higher.

But, honestly, at this point I would like (and i think other people would) a unique pack that merge all the features I desire, to spare space in the mod list.

If some modder would like to do this, here are my hints, with some extra:

  • change models and textures of vanilla bows, making them moore woden and realistic, using the materials (oricalchum, ebony, lunar stone, etc) only in small parts as reinforcements to remember of which set they came from.
  • some vanilla bows are good for now, (hunting and longbow). For the dwemer bow i like it and i don't think it would need a new model, and for the textures i think they are appropriate (where the dwemer could find wood underground? and how the wood could resist for millennia?) Maybe a little more difficult would be the falmer bow.
  • eventually merging this mod with the Ultra Realistic Bow Shoot Sounds http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/27208/? in a unique mod would be a badass thing
  • I didn't speak of arrows, but if the replacer would be done even for more realistic arrow and quivers would be great. Not only the textures, but I would love to see all the arrows with a proper arrowhead, not only the iron arrows.
  • for the quivers, would it be possible to forge your own quiver in which there are all the arrows, so when you change arrows the quiver doesn't change?
  • maybe even a version for the DLCs? Of course i'm speaking mainly of Dragonborn.

Ok, I know maybe I'm asking too much, but... I hope someone would have the time to make this! Thank you very much!

And sorry for my english, i didn't have too much time to write the post.

where the dwemer could find wood underground?

Just wanted to add my two lore bits here. Although the Dwemer did build vast underground structures, there is no evidence to support that they lived entirely underground. The fact that almost every remaining Dwemer ruin has buildings on the surface, and the amount of contact they had with surface-dwelling peoples before their disappearance both show that they likely had just as much access to surface resources like trees. They likely just didn't use them much as their technology and intelligence gave them access to much more useful materials.

I use CM Wooden Bows alongside the bow meshes from Better Shaped Weapons, and they look pretty damned good to me. Not sure what you're looking for in a bow mesh, though, so YMMV.

Time to answer!

First, I use these two mod too, and, as I said, I think they are very well made. I didn't want to complain about that. If the work can't be done, i will be quiet. But i was looking for a more "classic" concept for the bows. For example I like very much the bow mods of Artisanix on Nexus, to give an Idea of what i mean (for exemple http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/32405/? and http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/15109/?).

Maybe other people colud be intersted in this type of mod.

In any ca ase, part the strictly part on bows, I didn't really find in others mods the other features I have described (like realistic arrows and quivers).

And, even when you find the mods, they begin to be a few slot in your modding list. So, even if this thread would drive someone to do a "realistic bow unique pack" would be a good thing.

I don't want to open a discussion on this, because would be off topic here. But I agree in every single word. Only , you have to admit I was right with my second question: even if dwemer had made bows or other objects of wood, it would be very unlikely that you can find those objects in your explorations, because, after three eras I imagine very much of the organic materials would be destroyed, or at least too much weak to be used by the Dragonborn like he normally do! (Apart properly enchanted objects).
