Shaun919 Posted July 14, 2010 Share Posted July 14, 2010 I really need help, right i have made my cm partner (http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=33010) but to get it to work i have to overide the cm partner esp, i have seen other cm partners who have a separate esp but everytime i have done this my partner disappears. DavidBudreck Posted July 14, 2010 Share Posted July 14, 2010 If you have changed or overwritten the CM Partners.esp, it would be best to reinstall and start over again. Do not muck around with modes like this that are intended to be shared and used by others. What you probably did wrong was to Save rather than Save As... 1. Open CM Partners.esp; this will automatically open the .esm. 2. Make your changes to one of the Partners. 3. It is VERY IMPORTANT to give your changed NPC a new Name BEFORE you close the window; this will prompt the editor to ask you if you want to make a new form. 4. Click YES! 5. SAVE AS to a NEW MOD. Shaun919 Posted July 15, 2010 Author Share Posted July 15, 2010 hi thank you for the reply and sorry :( i didn't mean to change something so important but the tutorial i was following said that i should press save, so i did but when i changed it, got a new cm partner esp and made it a separate esp valen didn't show up. Thats why i thought i did the right thing as to edit the cm partner esp. Since you have altered 'CM Partners.esp' you will need to restore the original. Once you have done that, to create a new partner, close the Construction Set and follow these steps: 1. Open up Wrye Bash, right click on CM Partners.esp and select 'Esmify Self' Click 'OK' on the warning, and it should turn blue. 2. Open up the Construction Set and put a checkmark on Oblivion.esm, CM Partners.esm, and CM Partners.esp -- Do NOT set any as Active. 3. Create your partner by double clicking on an existing cmPartner (there are several) in the NPC column. Make sure that you alter the unique ID, so you don't overwrite the original. Remember, you can create your own Races, Classes, Birthsigns...everything...too. Again, duplicate and modify an existing feature, and give it a unique ID. 4. Once you are satisfied with your partner, press File...Save. Save your .esp with a unique name. 5. Quit the Construction Set. 6. VERY IMPORTANT: Go back to Wrye Bash, right click on CM Partners.esp and select 'Espify Self'. It should turn black again. You have just created your new partner.
