Romli
I was told that you can get to around level 4 just by sprinting, swimming and jumping... Which will raise your athletics skill I think... I'm still new to this game. How true is this and how long would it take?
Peregrine
Not very long actually, just run/jump everywhere you go. You can get to a lot higher than lvl 4 off it though, there's no cap on levels from each skill. Of course all this assumes that you have it as a major/minor skill so that it counts towards leveling. If you really want to "cheat" a bit, put a weight on your run key, run into a corner, and leave it overnight. You'll get a lot of levels, but if you're going for a more serious rpg type character, then its a bad idea.
thanateros
Figure if you run everywhere and your specialization is combat then I'd assume you'd be able to get to level 10 in no time. Just run around, litterally, and kill everything in sight. if you want some good skill boosters without training join the fighters guild, they give you a lot of mission that require you to fight (go figure right?). Romli
I don't think I really want to do that tho lol. But it's a good idea. You say you probably wont get as many levels if it isn't one of your Major or Minor skills?
Peregrine
No levels at all. You only gain levels based on increases in your major/minor skills, a total of 10pts between them = 1 level. Increasing your other skills does nothing but make them more effective.
Romli
Alright, thanks. One more thing. Lets say one of my skills is longblade. If I keep attacking the air for a LOOONG time do you get skill? Or do you have to hit something.

Darmoth
A simple solution for that is, buy a weak weapon of the type you use that requires you to hit your target many more times than normal to kill. More hits=More skill point gains. ^_^
Jormundgand
And if your really want to cheat with weapons, buy a armor mannequinn from any of several mods and starts bashing it with your weapon. It levels up really fast with no risk except your weapon needs to be repaire once in a while. I don't know if it works with every mannequinn mod out there, but it works on this one: Weapon Wielding Mannequins v1.0 By Stephen Kent, don't remember where i downladed it. But this is for the cheater, not the serious role player.
Hagop the Humble
Leveling up - mages A fast way to level up early in the game w/o danger, if you've a magey character, is to join the Mages guild, buy some non-threatening spells like "chamelion" and "hearth helper", then stand in front of the beds in the guild and cast them until you use up your mana, click on the bed to rest, then repeat. This might not build your fighting skills, but by just clicking the left mouse button lotsa times you can jump up w/o danger. I did this and besides getting dizzy watching the image of the bed bobble around, I was able to level OK. The bed is right there when you need it too. Note: don't cast destruction spells or summoning skills in the city - you'll get clobbered. Thus sayeth Hagop the Humble.
