Stephen Hawking, Michio Kaku, and Carl Sagan are some of my favorite authors. As for fiction, I've been reading a lot of Neal Stephenson lately. Snow Crash, Diamond Age, Cryptonomicon, and the Baroque Cycle are all highly recommended. As for fantasy, I like Tolkien of course, as well as His Dark Materials and The Wheel of Time.
