wyvernix
It could depend on your PC setup, or it could depend on your mods/load order. Oblivion uses quite a bit of memory while running in the background, so make sure to close other applications while playing. As far as the Xbox not crashing as much, well, we're talking about two different systems here. Xbox 360's are all setup in the same way, while people's PCs are more varied and have different setups, operating systems, etc. Hence more incompatibilities. As for the game itself, make sure to use wrye bash. http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=22368 The nifty bashed patch tool helps with making alot of mods compatible with each other, reducing potential crashes. The unofficial patches help with some of the vanilla bugs/general crashes. I also HIGHLY suggest Streamline. This is an excellent tool that has significantly reduced the amount of crashes I receive. http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=10400. Stutter remover is also pretty good http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=23208

wyvernix
Are you using OBSE(Oblivion Script Extender)? It's required for Streamline and certain other mods to run. Also, it needs to be at the bottom-most of your load order. There is a customizable ini option that comes with Streamlined that helps lower your settings only when you're in combat, then reverts them to the ones you intially had. So whenever you are in combat, the game will run much faster. I suggest attempting to try and get Streamline to work again if you can, it may help alot with that particular problem. Out of curiosity, what OS are you using? Sometimes Oblivion won't use all the RAM it's capable of using on certain systems, but there is a way to re-enable it. Elsarian
Also I would recommend you to use weOCPS (Oblivion Crash Prevention System) it does an amazing job at helping out crashes my friend. Also, you must not know much about the 360 but I have played Oblivion on it for two years until I built myself a gamming pc and now have been playing it for two more years. But the 360 does not crash. There is no such thing as a crash for Oblivion on the 360 nor any other game that is on the 360. The only thing that probably comes close to a crash is the game freezing. That is about it. And plus when I first got Oblivion for my PC, I played it Vanilla so that I could get used to the new type of controls and I never once crashed until I started putting on mods and stuff like that. In my opinion, Oblivion is just an unstable game and you have to use other OBSE plugins and such to try and make it stable. Here is the link to OCPS. http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=22282 Also here is a link to OSR (Oblivion Stutter Remover) in case you also have some stuttering issues that are also known to cause crashes. http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=23208 Note that both of these mods do require OBSE. I recommend the latest version. I hope that this has helped you out in some way my friend because crashing does suck lol. -Elsarian
Elsarian
I am sorry for the double post, but I did not realize that wyvernix had already given a link to OSR. I apologize. -Elsarian

UncleRoe
I run this game on a low end PC and oblivion doesn't even recognize my hardware. So far the only time it crashes is when i add mods that directly effect permanent changes like the skeleton nif files.
