TheSupaFro
I just don't get it. I've tried every combination of mods and it won't work. Bought my copy through Steam, so it's a legit copy. Also to note, I installed once with MO and had this problem, so I went to NMM and the problem is still there! I don't think it's my load order but here it is anyway just in case. gromulos
If you use this information all I ask in return is a simple thank you post  I can usually be found in the chat room on a daily basis READ! Read the description pages for each mod. Read the install instructions for each mod or utility. Read the Fallout 3 owners manual. No one was ever hurt by just reading. This guide will NOT work for any unofficial version of Fallout 3. 1) You need to run LOOT, Wrye Flash and FO3Edit, in that order Loot is not 100% and if that is all you're using you're going to have many problems as you progress through your play through, BOSS is no longer being supported and thus is out of date with newer mods. 1.5 ) with many mods loaded, you should be using 2 other programs ( Wrye Flash and FO3Edit ), when you run Wrye Flash if any checkmarks are not green, those mods are causing problems in your game, you make them turn green by dragging them up or down in your load order in wrye flash till they do turn green, ok that's one problem 2) with many mods loaded into your game you HAVE to have either a merged patch or bashed patch file, once again Wrye Flash is your friend because it will automatically make you a bashed patch file when it loads your mods. A bashed patch file makes all your weapon and armor and other mods play nice together, it also keeps track of leveled lists in the game and makes them work better together also. One other thing, make sure you enable ( check mark ) the bashed patch Wrye Flash makes, then right click it and choose rebuild patch as the one Wrye Flash makes is empty, which should always be last in your load order unless you're using an ENB. - concerning what the red, orange, and green check marks mean in Wrye Flash Red means a missing master file - basically a guaranteed CTD on startup. Orange means that some ESP has requested its master files in an order that is different to the the order that you currently have them in. Orange mods are arguably more dangerous, because you won't necessarily get an immediate CTD every time, so you may be lulled into a false sense of security, whereas in reality you have an unstable load order. Clicking on the orange/red mods will show you what masters they have, and what order they want them in. From here on in, it becomes like a puzzle: you need to manually drag and drop the various masters in your load order until their order is harmonious ( IE:. you've managed to provide the desired order of master files for every single ESP in your list simultaneously ) and all of your oranges have disappeared. If it's not possible to eliminate all orange mods, you may need to ditch one or two mods/patches. If you have one or two mods that won't turn green, try downloading them manually and installing them manually also, this has worked in the past for other people. DO NOT USE A MERGED PATCH AND A BASHED PATCH AT THE SAME TIME, ONE OR THE OTHER. 3) FO3EDIT is used to do 2 things, (A) verify that your load order is not missing any files that your mods need and (B) verify that no primary files are being loaded after secondary files. When you run FO3EDIT it will throw up an error box and the error will be displayed at the bottom of the right pane / panel. All you have to do is read what it says and it will tell you exactly how to fix the problem in Wrye Flash. Yes, you can open Wrye Flash while FO3EDIT is open so you don't even have to write down what the error is  Please remember that while LOOT is a great program it is NOT 100 % Let me know if you need any more help  Additional info that may be of use for some people below: 1) MotoSxorpio - If you have removed a plugin or changed load order, a reference ID for objects being missing could cause CTD. TheSupaFro
I did everything you said, followed it point by point, fixed my load order, cleaned it, etc. and alas...my problem is still persistent :( at points it would let me get to the menu, but at the new game load screen then crash. I've also tried the Windows 8 fix, the intel fix, and the 4gb patch too :(
Purr4me
I did everything you said, followed it point by point, fixed my load order, cleaned it, etc. and alas...my problem is still persistent  at points it would let me get to the menu, but at the new game load screen then crash. I've also tried the Windows 8 fix, the intel fix, and the 4gb patch too :sad:Let me know when your ready for hands on approach.Ok; what we need to do is get you up to speed with how things are done in the real world.First, I need specific information from you so I can help you fix your system. This is obvious there is a problem. that wall of text meant you went through way too much ordeals and ended up right back to square one.......right t here.Download and install this: (http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html)When it installs, make it update it's self so it is inline with today's operating systems. It will do a complete survey of your installed data, version information's and things. when it is done it will load up in the html format, what ever Browser you currently have running. at the top of your browser ,find the edit button and (save as)....point it to your "My document folder"go in there and right click that file it deposits and send to zip.send that to my email "Privately" DO NOT post it on the open networks, do you understand me? IT's private.I will see whats going on by the data you have installed thus far.In the mean time. make sure you have at least 20 gig's of hardrive space available on the C:\ drive, the root drive, bare minimum required is 10 gigs.where ever your game is installed at ? depends on whether or not it's retail or steam?Steams systems have a blob file that contains purchased data encoding. that remains , you do not touch it. IF steam game 'Fallout3 ONLY', copy the contents of the game to a new folder you make on the root of the hard drive, the root again is C:\ Your new folder can be named "SuperFro" if you wish, the word "fallout 3 does not make any differences to the games engine nor does it matter to steams engines. What's important here is that game is intact, not modified in any way at all. That brings us to this juncture, you need to UNINSTALL all those mods FIRST. Reboot. clean the registry of the system. load up steam, let it settle down a bit wait. now, if you have a clean copy of the game in the steam folder. then copy that into the new folder. DO NOT copy all that junk into that new folder. you need to be absolutely sure there is no outside 3rdparty software interfering with this operation. This includes NMM any other mods or devices used in the past. the stem and this old game must be "ALONE IN THE DARK" got it ?your issues as I understand it is you can not even get the game to run. I bet the system can not even run it as of yet because there are problems with hardware or a software snafu that has taken place. Nobody else will go this far with any user. I have...many many times. If the game is "RETAIL"? then there is yet another bug present that is definitely going to prevent this game from running at this date and time. It's a very old bug, and there is a work around, so , I need to know things, Thus the reason for the information packet. NOTE: this is a publicly posted request so no one will do anything about any thing with your data as I am the only one requesting it and shall be the only one viewing it. There is nothing to fear from me as I requested it in the open. don't post it in the open LOL. just send it to me so I can get you going quickly. Last....windows "Microsoft" is pulling support for windows 8 very soon, it's been shut down from retail sales, windows 7 is also in the snipers scope too. Technology is changing very fast as of now. there won't be a tomorrow or later thing available. PC games are going to be changing fast. your running out of time.I am currently working with a friend on GDL interposing for Linux coding use age for windows crossover games, this game is my favorite so it's on my chopping blocks here. IT will remove the need for direct x and LIVE involvement and will require licensing from the host providers so I have little time to spare. A long time ago , once was a young man is now very old made a game, it was designed to run in the win arena but was 100% GDL purposed, it was a 3d game, and it was a spawning game, very very fast, it was able to create world spaces on the fly and interaction with the world objects was intense, very intense. Nimitz as far as I was told, but I seen the videos of it. It runs even on a server based system because the games roots were server based. It was slated for an online thing but never got to that point, long story .....things changed too fast for developers to keep up. things shifted, personal needs of companies outstayed the needs of the dev's. You go wit the flow and that was the end of it until last year. so...if you believe in people and have no fears, I am here to help you.kitty. bben46
@gromulos, there is a third possibility - the original FO3 required GFWL ( Games for windows live) instead of steam. I don't know if the steam version still has that in it or not. But there is a patch here to remove the GFWL requirement. http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/1086/? @Purr4me Last....windows "Microsoft" is pulling support for windows 8 very soon, it's been shut down from retail sales, windows 7 is also in the snipers scope too. This is not anything new, this was the schedule all along. And for Win8 until 2023. Again, with Win10 coming soon, I don't expect any more service packs for it either - but you will still get regular security updates just like you always have.
