Oblivion Script Extender (obse)

I'm extremely new to the modding committee. I had bought purchased and played Oblivion repeatedly on my Xbox 360 console, loved it... thoroughly. But I became bored of it as so many people do when they play a game more then once, it lacks the surprise (or at least something new (And thats some games not all)). So I traced around through some Faqs, websites, and even a few fan-sites to see if I missed much of anything and began seeing things for the PC version that other people created. I would have to say in the least I was most impressed with all the different mods I saw, however, it all appears to be blasphemy. Every bit of it.

I ask for mods in several places (websites), I'm either told they are created already but no one tells me where or under what file name, or I'm ignored entirely. I download a mod that looks quite fetching then proceed on with the "read me" first as anyone with a brain should, and I find out I need 5 more mods in order for that specific one to work. So I go looking for the other mods that are required, I either run into that mod and it needing more mods, or I get led to a page it was supposed to be on except the page is no longer up in running. For example as my topic title post clearly states at the top... Obse and its non-existence, I've looked around, a lot of mods require the latest version of OBSE, and the last one Ive seem to have found in a topic page was v18 beta I think? Anyway, every single one of those websites pointed me to a specific place to get it... you know it, http://obse.silverlock.org/... Once again... any of you smart-ass people, like the one I ran into in another forum bitching me and another guy out for not being able to acquire it, been to that website recently? Try it I dare you... Bet you are redirected to a wal-greens home page or something in the like, or the website stays in your search bar, but remains a white screen. I also get a kick out of some people's "read me"'s - One, I kid you not, said, and I quote "How to install - You put the thingy in the thingy" really? Really?!?! thats impressive :| . Or some of them are too technical, and falls about 30 yards short of making any sense. (AHRE) IAALC WHRR) LOL @#$%&44592202 -- Doesn't make much sense does it? (Thats about what I'm looking at half the time) I do see fabulous mods though, naked chicks, great weapons and armor, exquisite mounts, new worlds characters and races, even mods to make it to where everyone is atleast less ugly (Ha ha - Cause my first time through, seriously I saw maybe one or two o.k. looking ladies, one is on the thieves guild quest near the end, but I don't remember her name or the mission) and so many people saying they are awesome, Yeaaah man! Great Job, I fully endorse it!!! Really? And how did they get it to work? Let me guess... they put the thingy into the thingy and saved it. Obse is no where to be found, except and old copy on the linked from oblivion wiki, too old for any mods I wish to use that and it really didn't do anything at all (I don't think it worked)(even though I made sure I put the thingy in the thingy). And oblivion dedicated sites like this one all seem to be oblivious to it... ha ha (that was kind of funny) Oblivion - oblivious... ha heh... never mind. Anyway no one seems to know about it, anywhere. Ive looked up this topic, Ive looked for alternate means of getting obse on google, yahoo, msn, askjeeves, even godaddy (and don't believe the commercial, that place sucks, and Danica Patrick doesn't dance for you) and I have found nothing.

Look, I'm finished ranting and raving about it, lets get down to the scivvy of it. I am asking "Please" someone help me find an alternate means of making these mods work, and/or and alternate download source for the latest for OBSE, and/or all the specific tools needed to install mods, work with them, and perhaps make masterpieces of my own to distribute to you all.

If your going to gripe at me save your reply I don't need it and you should sulk away from your computer, go upstairs and hug your mother, and tell her thank you for putting up with your 31 yr old ass.

As for everything else, Moderators, if I have broken any rules, regulations, and/or laws to your forum, I do apologize, please do not ban me, simply let me know where I crossed the line and I shall make sure that line is never crossed by me again.

Thank you for taking the time to read it at least, because I do notice people at least look at it, but have nothing to say... perhaps they agree, anyway some decent input would be nice, Thanks again.

If this does not work for you, then you seriously need to look at your PC, and how it's configured.

how about a some proper sentence/paragraph structure so someone could actually read it without going crazy or having a seizure... I honestly tried to read it but could not stand it after like i had read like 1/6 of it...

If your wanting help with a mod just state what your doing and what you want done, There is no need for these 100 lines of ranting for no particular reason at all... Drama isn't typically liked or tolerated within the nexus.

Modders tend to actually help people who are polite and respectful more(always) than the person who comes in and spends 5 minutes ranting (without taking a breath) before asking for help..

Now on to the problem:

try opening it in another browser, (the sites up just now checked) and the fact your computer cannot load it is shocking sense its a text based page on a white backdrop....

The site works. It may have been down temporarily when you tried.

As for finding other mods that may be required for a mod you want, Try the search function on TesNexus. Or try browsing by categories. We have over 20,000 Oblivion mods here now. Of course we cannot index those mods that are not hosted here.

So I take it, its just me I guess? Thanks for all the help though and advice while I do appreciate it I'm afraid it didn't work.

Ive tried to open the webpage in 4 different browsers all to the same effect. I get redirected to some sort of advertisement (and I did check if I could skip ad>> and proceed)

I also tried the one that one of you said was closing soon and I still got the same effect. Personally I think I spent about all the time I'm going to with this pc game, perhaps Ill try it again in the future sometime... the only problem with that is that I'll be even further behind in the 'know how' then I am right now.

Thanks again you all, still a fan of course, and in no way mocking any of you, I'm just a bit discouraged. Perhaps you are right though... maybe it is my pc, is it something I can open on another pc save to a memory stick with out risking harm to the file?

Just asking, because if its just my pc, I have no idea what the problem is. My pc doesn't seem let me anywhere near silverlock, or anything obse related. I tried the download link on the forum you suggested. I click on it and it goes to silverlock (Stop - Redirected) Advertisement. Then I tried to do a direct download of it (Right click - save as) And I got the zip folder... the entire 1kb of it :|

Hmm.. Wonder why it's not working for you. If you give me an E-mail address, I could try downloading it myself and sending it to you.

Perhaps the site is a cache error. Tried press ctrl-f5 with it loaded? I've never seen an ad on the place.

If you're constantly getting redirected to ads regardless of browser my guess would be spyware. Lots of malware will redirect you when you click links and such. Does it happen when you enter the url manually?

If it happens whenever you try to access certain sites, first scan your computer with any anti-virus/anti-spyware program. And, I already linked to one of OBSE official threads, which has direct link to latest version of OBSE. If you have no problem with Bethesda Softworks official forum, use OBSE threads to get OBSE.
