wolron
First of all, I have finally got hooked on Morrowind. This is significant because I really prefer to manage a party rather than go it alone. I also prefer a linear game rather than a wide open game like Morrowind. Nonetheless, it is quite a good looking game and it usually seems to do things right for an RPG. However, I have finally got to a point where a few NPCs have decided to tag along for a while. One is almost naked and has no weapons. The poor sod (Hlormar Wine-Sot) was stripped by a witch that he insulted and now we are trying to find her to reap some revenge. Of course, I am having some trouble finding her. THat is OK because there are plenty of other side quests to work on and he is nice to have along. He even will fist fight the oppostion and help a little. But here is my question (finally). Can I do anything to equip him? Is there anyway to give anything to him? I became rather overloaded with extra weapons and armor and decided to try to give him something. I found that I could place items on his head. They stacked up there real nice! When we moved, the items even stayed there levitated at about the 6 foot level. It seems to me that I should be able to cloth the poor fellow. I can put cloths back on a dead body if I decide that the stuff is too heavy to take with me. Why can't I cloth a live body??? Please, someone tell me that I am overlooking a rediculously simple solution. I can take being embarassed by my ignorance.
Peregrine
Nope, nothing you can do to help the poor npcs without making a mod for it.
ThetaOrionis01
Tribunal added an equipment share option - but in Morrowind there's nothing you can do. Then again - he's a Nord! He probably wouldn't thank you for clothes anyway....
wolron
OK, I am disapointed. However, it gets worse. I finally found the witch that took his cloths and weapon. Actually she is a rather nice witch. I am beginning to see why you gave a disparaging remark about that Nord. It seems that he probably deserved the trouble that he got into with the witch. In fact, I decided to side with her so I turned to the Nord and told him that I was going to side with the witch. OF course he immediately declared that I was going to die for that. Now comes my next complaint!! Instead of fighting me, the Nord stood there with his dukes up (that is all he had to attack with). He waited. The witch waited. I waited. Finally, I decided to talk to the witch again. She thanked me for killing the Nord and gave me some potions. I swear, I didn't lay a hand on him. In fact, I am going back to the game again and I expect he will still be standing there in his leopard skin thong, with his dukes up and looking like an idiot. But what should I do? Kill the poor sod? Stack stuff on his head again? Maybe get behind him and push him toward the witch in hopes that they start fighting so I can save her life like I am supposed to?? IF I leave, will he still follow? If not, will he always be there, like a tribute to his own stupidity? I don't mind telling you, this is really ruining my optimism about the rest of this game. You say Tribunal allows you to trade with NPCs huh. Are they any better than this NOrd in there basic AI? I dearly hope so.
Marxist ßastard
If you want to give NPCs better clothing and armor and they don't have Companion Share, AddItem will work in a pinch. Tribunal contains numerous AI improvements that are applied throughout the entire game, but has only one actual mercenary and a limited number of creatures with Companion Share enabled -- said companions cannot come back to Vvardenfell with you, unless you PlaceatPC them there. Once you get Tribunal, you should get Dracandros Voice. You seem like the kind of person that would benefit greatly from it.
Acinonyk
heres some advice, kill the nord, then summon a skeleton, ten times more effective and they dont stop fighting when a random body part falls off.
wolron
I did kill the Nord. Oh, not out of hatred or anger, simply out of shame. You see, I too am a Nord (and proud of it!). I just couldn't stand to see a countryman posed there, nearly naked, a dumb smile on his face, and no fight left in him. :( Question: What is "additem"? ThetaOrionis01
It's a script command/cheat code you can use in the console to add items to a character's inventory. eg. player->AddItem Gold_001 100 would make 100 gold appear in your pocket
wolron
Thanks for the info, but I am not interested in cheat codes. In fact, the main reason for wanting to share items with NPCs is that I would really like to have a pack mule. By the way, one of the other threads was really criticizing Dungeon Siege as being a lousy game. I would agree with the fact that it is a hack & slash game with far too many battles and far too little real challenge. Nonetheless, it will always have a place on my game shelf because of those pack mules! Now there is an enhancement that adds some realism to RPG. What real life adventurer would head off in search of treasure without taking along some method of carrying the treasore back home. In this same area of thought, didn't Daggerfall allow you to take a horse cart along on your quests? Why wasn't that idea continued in Morrowind??? Marxist ßastard
I didn't mean AddItem as a cheat code, but rather as a, er... command. Click on the NPC you want to have an item, and enter a few commands like... AddItem Steel_Cuirass 1AddItem Steel_Pauldron_Right 1AddItem Steel_Pauldron_Left 1AddItem "Steel Claymore" 1AddItem extravagant_shirt_01_r 1AddItem extravagant_pants_01 1AddItem extravagant_shoes_01 1AddItem extravagant_glove_right_01 1AddItem extravagant_glove_left_01 1 Morrowind doesn't have horse carts because horses cannot adapt to Vvardenfell's harsh climate, nor can they digest the grasses indigenous to the island. For pack animals that travel around Vvardenfell with you, get either Dracandros Voice (Tribunal Required, Unlimited Pack Guars, Shares Using Companion Share) or Pack Guar (Tribunal Not Required, Only One Pack Guar, Shares Using Barter Window).
